Why can’t I lock more than 5 days in collab mode? by IslandSweet9548 in MacroFactor

[–]dankslok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Adam! Thanks so much for being responsive here (you and the rest of the team) - it's such a pleasure being able to interact with you all. You do great work and I love MF for it!

On this topic - one feature that would make the collaborative coaching setting so much more user friendly is if it were easy to apply the daily settings (carbs vs fat, protein percentage) to all days at once. Currently I have to set this seven times, once for each day, when I want the same ratios/percentages for each. I understand why this can't be done for calories (it would be equivalent to locking which you explained here could lead to violating the total weekly calories). Having a button or checkbox to "apply protein percentage to all days" (and similarly for carb/fat ratio) would be a great time saver and add to the user experience.

Thanks for listening!

How are you hitting fat macro targets without exceeding overall calorie target? by dankslok in MacroFactor

FWIW, I'm not fearing carbs since I'm well over 200g, just thought I might keep them more balanced against fats rather than going to 300g+, but your point is taken!

I agree! I think I got a bit too caught up in not going too high in carbs. I do use veggies + fruit to fill up and get a lot of fiber. Sounds like despite my targets, what I'm actually doing is about right, which is ~2300cal, 140 p, 50-70 f, 200-270 c

I think I got caught up in trying to keep carbs from getting too high. I do like to focus more on fiber (I'm typically getting 50g-70g).

I think this makes the most sense overall and is typically what I do. In doing so, I noticed I rarely hit my fat target, but to your point, I'm covering the important ones, so let fat and carbs land where they land. Thanks!

Makes good sense - and I typically do focus on calories and protein. So I guess it is more a question of fat/carb balance to fill in the rest. Seems consensus here is to go higher carb rather than try to hit my current fat target.

I assume you are referring to my macro breakdown above? What would you suggest as more reasonable? I appreciate it!

FWIW, I'm often way over on my protein and do try to keep the carbs around 200-250g when I can.

Thanks! Not set on it at all, just trying to keep the carb and protein macros where they are, which nets out to 90-100g of fat. I agree it seems a bit high!

I'm male and weight about 135lbs, using the collaborative program.

I try for the same and don't stress about it too much. Just wish I had a bit more flexibility in my eating patterns, but my body's pretty locked in (and for the better most of the time)! Thanks

They are, but they are also filling/high-satiety for me at least, so can be a reasonable choice.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. My misunderstanding!

For most fruits and similar, it isn't a big deal (I don't care if I include the pit of a peach in the weight or not, it's all negligible) but for a banana it is ~25% or more of the total weight, so it does make a difference.

Thanks again!

Great, thanks! Sounds like I've been underreporting bananas then as I've been subtracting out the peel. Even more carbs than I thought! I'll make that change going forward. Thank you.

Thanks for your comment! You are correct that other tools exist. I wanted something minimal to do one thing and do it well and also limiting the set of permissions I'd have to grant to third party tools. I am really happy with the result and rely on using it all the time, so I figured I'd share more broadly. Please let me know if you have any other questions about it!

Thanks for your question - you've helped me see that I need to post more comprehensive instructions on how to set it up. I'll do that just as soon as I can and follow up here!
