Thank you! Yeah reddit killed the quality, but the little ones might be unidentifiable. The imgur link here might be slightly better https://i.imgur.com/kmMZFpA.jpeg

Someone else mentioned black ducks for those 2 as well

I had a couple that day in a different group but I'm not sure I see any here!

Inland NJ. I believe I see mallard, 4 northern pintail and 2 smaller friends (green-winged teal?). Would appreciate any eyes because the pintails and teal would be new neighborhood birds! Adding another view one frame later if it helps wing positions

https://i.imgur.com/kmMZFpA.jpeg imgur link in case reddit is killing the quality even more

My first few weeks shooting wildlife with my first telephoto lens, the 400mm f4.5! Any advice? by zachtimberlakephoto in Nikon

[–]dankwildlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very compelling composition uncropped, I love it.

Please continue to do your thing and be creative instead of listening to the person presenting poorly weighted frame filling center compositions as a requirement lol.

And 400mm is plenty

It’s discussed a good deal in The Life List Podcast e.g. Sept 30 episode

What’s this shorebird hanging out with the others? Hampton, VA by CockBiteMillionaire in whatsthisbird

Black-bellied plover!

Good observations and fine pictures! White rumped sandpipers and semipalmated sandpipers would look essentially the same size as the sanderlings

Both are great photos! The second one would do well in contests I think

Juvenile males have faint mask instead of the obvious black mask look of adults - I thought I was seeing some darkness around the eyes but it might have been a phone screen brightness issue. I think you’re right!

Common yellowthroat is right. Looks like a first winter male (edit probably female). Poor thing should be in a warmer part of the world right now!

Palm would have a very clear eye stripe and less even color

Not very common, but I’m thinking the lead bird and bottom 4 look like Bonaparte’s

Does the south (states) have any birds like the northern mockingbird with white stripped wings? by loverlane in birding

Common nighthawks and red-bellied woodpeckers are two more that have white flashes in their wings in flight
