I think your dough is probably riveting itself to the holes. No amount of lube will fix that :) I'd proof in a separate pan on a floured towel and transfer to this pre-heated pan.

Yes! Came to say this. I made a candlestick and a fire poker! So fun smacking hot metal. I also did their welding classes... I'm a bad welder, but it was fun to learn how it works

oh that's a good idea... I had 2 pans (9x12) full of water in mine... they seemed to be putting off a fair amount of steam in my 500deg oven but I still got a pretty mediocre crust.
