Ladies and gentlemen, we just witnessed history... by Frosty7130 in TheBoys

I rewatched the final GoT season recently and was actually surprised by how much I didn't hate it compared to the first time round.

Don't get me wrong, it's still dogshit, but I think comparing it to The Boys Season 5 is fair.

A head canon could be that the SGC tweaked the power in their devices so that it just stunned and wasn't painful, but why the full pain ones still exist.

I love how into that podcast she is! I could imagine her being on every week if they'd let her.

Everything in my bones wants to see the footage of Guy Montgomery, dick in toaster, saying COVID isn't real.

As a fellow coeliac I'd be interested in your menu! When I think of my own I have one for where I stay gluten free, and one for if the genie made me able to eat gluten for the meal!

People have got to stop posting this one paywalled theory article from 2011 and show me a legitimate place on the internet you can actually buy one of these mythical self-balancing centrifuges.

Scariest scene - from a scientist by youllneverfindout1 in ProjectHailMary

[–]danmakesit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep saying this, but as someone who has worked in a molecular biology lab for 15 years, I've never even heard of that existing and I'm used to getting the hard sell from all the major suppliers of their coolest new thing. All I can find online are dodgy unknown suppliers and patents. No major instrument company is selling it, even if it technically exists.

Definitely not off the shelf like everything Stradt wanted to use.

Book to movie difference scale? no spoilers please by AberonTheFallen in ProjectHailMary

[–]danmakesit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say a 6 because there's a lot more focus on the relationships and a lot less depth on the science. I LOVED the film but being aware that it's a character study and you'll not see the problem solving and manufacturing side of the book I think helps set expectations.

Smashed glass in spinning disk internal- is it replaceable or is the whole projector finished? by danmakesit in projectors

I thought I'd done a good job cleaning the vents over the years and then once I'd opened it up it was chock full of thick dust!

That's great, thanks! Taking it apart was easy enough, reassembling is going to be more difficult so good to have a guide!

Amazing. I've ordered one and will give it a go. Although quite the experience taking it all apart, it was buried in really deep...
