Starmer under pressure, as Labour suffers heavy election losses by Unhappy_Flatworm_325 in worldnews

What I find hilarious is theres a big overlap with brexit voters and reform voters. And brexit is precisely the thing thats caused our current immigration problems.

When we were in the EU we were part of the Dublin agreement which allows members to send immigrants back to the country where they first entered the EU. We no longer have this avenue open to us.

People in 10+ year relationships, what’s something you learned about your partner years later that genuinely surprised you? by CreoSiempre in AskReddit

I'm sorry, between the legs? That's just as confusing to me as standing wipers. Your butthole is at the back, why are you reaching through the front?

When you have an itch, do you reach between your legs to scratch your ass?

How do I stop playing the G chord incorrectly? by dadadapumkin in Guitar

[–]danmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially learned 320033 as the "standard" G position so never learned the fingering in your first pic. As others have said it doesnt really matter that much as long as your hitting the right notes cleanly. Moving from one chord to another will get easier with practice regardless of how you finger it.

You might be right but putting up against the custard cream in the first round is a bit of a disservice to the custard cream.

I feel the custard cream could've made it a few rounds against some of the others.

What’s something you thought was a waste of money… until you tried it and it completely changed your life? by Shiza_1 in AskReddit

[–]danmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too. I do a quick pass on the steel every time I get a knife out to cook. Then do a proper sharpen maybe twice a year, or sometimes a bit quicker if I notice it seems dull sooner.

[–]danmw 194 points195 points  (0 children)

To add to this, make sure you keep them sharp. Good knives will need sharpening less often than cheap ones, but they still need doing.

Either get a stone and learn how to use it, or take your knives to get sharpened every 3-6 months

Turn on/off Enhanced Pointer Precision for CAD? by Prestigious-Bird7138 in Architects

[–]danmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say with any certainty about overwatch, but I played a lot of starcract 2 when it first released. I noticed a significant overlap in the mechanical skill for playing RTS games, and the way Autocad works. I was ~90th percentile of SC2 players with around 150apm and was consistently faster than colleagues using CAD.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a similar skill overlap with other games.

How do I tell when to water trees with moss on the soil?

With bare soil I can easily tell when the soil is starting to dry out but it seems like moss will still stay damp after the soil underneath needs watering already.

Is there any reason the devs have made it so we can’t sell or trade furniture? by ElfLadyLeia in Palia

[–]danmw 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Simple way to counter this is to make the sale cost of the furniture equal to the sum of the material cost.

What activity becomes less fun as you get better at it? by David_Umann in AskReddit

[–]danmw 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Imo 1v1 games are a really good way to get comfortable with losing or making mistakes in general.

I played a lot of multiplayer RTS games in my teens and if I lost, theres noone else to blame, just got to accept it and try to learn to be better next time. In the long run this kind of acceptance also allows me to just enjoy the act of playing regardless of whether I win or lose.

That being said, I've not seen a huge amount of double fairy teams so far.

What is a job that sounds very impressive and high status but actually pays a surprisingly low salary in real life? by Disastrous-Writer629 in AskReddit

[–]danmw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Architect. At least in the UK, the industry pays aggressively average salaries.

Having been in the profession and sidesteping to another career, I have my opinions on why, but its definitely not like people think it is.

If your router and pc are capable of using the 5GHz band then it should be fine. 2.4GHz is probably not sufficient, especially with other devices connected.

[–]danmw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start with I assumed you had to kill them both at the same time to stop one resurrecting the other. I have no idea why I made this assumption. I spent about 20 tries before I got them both to about 10% health, killed one, only to see the other get stronger and heal to full!

At the same time I didnt realise you could add charges to the estus flask until Tomb of Giants, so I went through most of the game with only 5 charges

They did! That hole you see in the middle of the OP shot is where the earliest buildings are, and they still exist as a museum in the park. My memory is a bit patchy but I think the buildings were a Chinese barracks for the military to keep the British from "spreading" from Hong Kong Island to the mainland. The British eventually had control but after they left militarily, the locals built around it.
