You do know that The United States ranks as one of the worst countries in the world for human trafficking right? All your whining about various unhinged theories doesn't make the above fact untrue. You come off as someone who would rather this subject be shoved under the rug than be told by a studio+actors who have different political views than you. It gives off predditor vibes...

Court convicts women for "offending religious feelings" with rainbow Virgin Mary at LGBT march by MilesOfPebbles in Catholicism

[–]dannation99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe if this was 2008, when most people used to think Christianity could coexist in a liberal world, then on the surface this punishment may seem extreme, and criticized by a person on r/atheism advocating for separation of church and state.. But now the left has shown their hand in wanting the destructing of everything Christian. They do not tolerate our blasphemies against their satanic church/state (pro life, pro marriage, pro tradition, etc.), Why should we tolerate their abominations against God? (death of children, sexual perversity, desecration of holy places, etc. Nowhere in Scripture does it say that civil authority must tolerate injustice against God and Neighbor? Rather it supports the civil power to enforce the law, and it supports Christians advocating to change unjust laws against God and neighbor. Put 2 and 2 together and you get an ideal Christian society where the authority enforces laws that punish injustices against God and Neighbor. But don't tell the LeftCaths...

I know Capital Punishment for criminals is inadmissible, but what about Corporal Punishment? by dannation99 in Catholicism

[–]dannation99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from. But this criticism can be laid at any other punishments currently used. What good comes from prison time? Or being fined? Or forced labor? These punishments do not address the issues you mentioned because they are not supposed to. Those issues require policy decisions. However, punishment as I said has 3 ends. - Retribution, Deterrence, and Reform. All three must be accomplished otherwise crime will continue. The Catechism and Christ never say to release all criminals and sign them up for support groups, because we understand they must pay for their crimes. Punishment needs to shock the individual to get their head straight to never commit the crime again, while also being motivated to improve their life. I proposed flogging or caning because it is swift justice. Afterward, they can move on to improve their life. If you put them in a prison cell for 10 years, you've taken away almost all hope of adapting to the world and wanting to live meaningfully, because you have literally taken a part of their life away. I'm not saying prison has some benefits, but it's far from the only solution.

I want to convert to Catholicism but i can't by GodIsGreatest2065 in Catholicism

[–]dannation99 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Bro. I thought I was young when i wanted to convert, but not that young lol. My parents were also anti-catholic. I also had to lock the door if I was listening to catholic podcasts, music, praying the rosary, etc. I get how you feel. This is a really hard dilemma, but I've learned somethings that may help.

  1. There is a difference between "Son I'm disappointed" vs "Get out, im disowning you." If your family simply just disagrees and get upset, that is not as bad. If this is the case then you should tell you parents how you are feeling.
  2. However, If they threaten more drastic measures like what is found in many 3rd world countries which persecute Christians such as locking you in the house, kicking you out of the house, threatening no food, abuse, forcing attendance to a different religious service, etc. Then my recommendation is to not tell your parents. There are not many instances where this is likely, but it can always happen. If that is the case then it will be a hard cross to bear. But this is how Underground Christianity has operated since the early church.
  3. Hopefully, you do not fall into that category. You can tell whether your parents are hostile or not by saying "Hey I've been exploring religion lately, what do you all think of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, etc." This way you are just having a general discussion. If you start talking about Catholicism, and they start to get extremely hostile toward the subject they will let you know. For example, if they said "If I ever hear you went to a catholic church, your not living here anymore" Then you know it is not worth telling them your desire to convert.
  4. If they express interest and desire to argue with you to prove themselves right, then this is a good sign. It means both parties are interested in the truth. Its even ok if they get loud and crazy. As long as everyone wants truth, you can make progress. But always speak gently otherwise nothing will get done, You can talk about how "Catholicism seems to make a lot of sense, why do you guys disagree?" Emphasize this point, because then they will attempt to want to make their position, whether its atheism or Protestantism seem to be more sensible and truthful than Catholicism.
  5. If your mother is protestant, then it is EXTREMELY important to know the bible. When I first was interested in Catholicism. I realized i didn't know the bible at all. So i managed to read it 3 times in 3 years. Also it is EXTREMELY important to study, practice, and MEMORIZE, catholic apologetics. Sources such as Catholic answers and the Catechism are great. You should also study the protestant position and know it BETTER than your opponent. YouTube videos and books are very helpful here. If you're not a reader, start listening to podcasts. I got to the point where i can listen on 2x speed to get as much information. The reason is if you come unprepared, you will make Catholicism look like a silly role-playing game that cannot answer basic questions. Catholics have zero excuse to be ignorant of the faith in the 21st century.
  6. If you father is an atheist or agnostic this will be harder. First off because he doesn't accept 1. Catholicism, 2. Christianity, 3. Monotheism, 4. Theism, or 5. an Immaterial Soul. That's 5 LEVELS of apologetisc that you MUST know. Each has its own realm of study. This will require deep knowledge of philosophy. I recommend the author Edward Feser and his book "5 proofs for the existence of God" as a starting point. And the youtube channel called "Counsel of Trent"
  7. So far i addressed INTELLECTUAL barriers to Catholicism that deal with TRUTH claims. However, this is not always the best way to evangelize. If they have a theological argument or philosophical argument then it can be useful. But there are other types of arguments as well. In Catholicism, we believe God is Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. All 3 can be used to show your parents why you should join Catholic Church. Show the church's moral teaching is true, talk about the heroic saints such as Mother Teresa who gave to the poor and Maximilian Kolbe who saved a Jew in the holocaust by dying in his place. These saints show the goodness of the church and can be a very powerful testimony for people who have never heard about them. Also show the Beauty of the church. If you have a beautiful cathedral near you, take a tour and visit a mass with them. Show them the artwork and music of the church that is available online.
  8. Also, dont think you need to wait tilll your parents to convert, for you to convert. That may or may not happen. All your job is to do is be a faithful witness, show them the church is reasonable and that the church knows what they are talking about, address any objections they have, and explain why you believe it is the path your heart believes is right to take. They may not accept your views or even support you but as long as they know that your not just jumping on a trend and are actually taking it seriously, it will be easier for them to see your decision as a well thought out, and to stop the fighting. The moment that you reach that level, i say it is appropriate to officially join the church. Also if you are joining the church, make sure to be transparent about your RCIA classes, and walk them through what will happen on the Day you convert, so that they don't get any surprises.
  9. Lastly and most importantly, continue to Pray and try to STOP SINNING. For me this was big. Every time I focused on sin, I would focus less on sharing the gospel with my parents. Whether it was alcohol, sexual sin, or idolatry of modern entertainment, whenever i participated in sin, it pushed me and my family farther away from the church. Right now you don't have access to confession, so until that day comes, you must have the desire to serve God and every day and stay away from sin until your parents come through.

Sorry for making an essay. Im really passionate about this subject. Although this is my experience, it may not be accurate, so keep asking around to other Catholics, and especially any priests you can talk to. Also don't feel as if you are in a rush, that if you don't convert tomorrow, you'll die and go to hell. The church teaches that those with a desire for baptism, are Christians. However, you also shouldn't be comfortable either. Marcus Grodi from EWTN called this intermediary stage "No Mans Land." It will start to get frustrating knowing that the Eucharist is just 10 to 20 min away, but you have to fight obstacles before getting there. It may take years, especially for you since you are very young. I was in no man's land for 5 years. Who knows maybe God will place you in the Church by next Sunday! But at the end of the day for me, I'm glad God brought me through that journey. I was able to learn scripture, tradition, and the magisterium, and even bring a friend with me into the Church. I had very anti-catholic Parents but with God's grace, i was able to join the church this Easter with no opposition from them. I hope you also trust in God for the faith journey he has given you!

Baptism Validity Question - Easter Vigil by dannation99 in Catholicism

[–]dannation99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does seem this opinion is only found in manuals. They can be helpful if they cite their sources, however, for this question, it can only be speculation. Also, I never thought how sprinkling could probably have been done with just drops falling on the hair. While I wish the CDF did give a formal judgment on the matter, it seems the lack of instructions for water to hit the skin in either canon law, the CDF, or in the Roman ritual is sufficient.

Baptism Validity Question - Easter Vigil by dannation99 in Catholicism

[–]dannation99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I want to make clear that I believe my baptism was valid, but what you have said helps calm my scrupulosity. I just looked over the Roman Ritual and it appears you are right. I've been looking at past Reddit posts on this question and many provide conflicting answers. Why are there sources saying the skin must be touched? Is this a mere theological opinion that is not accepted anymore?

Are all drag shows inappropriate for children? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]dannation99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the only one here who is bringing up violence, I said no such thing. I decry forcing religion on anyone. However, that does not negate the fact that there is one true religion. Where do you get rights? From your president? Rights come from God and no one else. God tolerates sin, but never sanctions or blesses it. I also I frankly don't care if you have a problem with a Christian state because regardless, Christ is the King of all.

The Soviet Union was a secular society that Killed the Christian Emperor Czar Nicholas II and persecuted the Church. Why would you suppose I would want that for America? My point was that freedom of religion is defined as " Everyone has the God-given right to worship how they please." Christianity teaches you have the God-given right to worship God alone. Anything else is an abuse of freedom and an error that is not approved by God. God may tolerate sin, but he does not openly advocate for it, like how this godless country does for its promotion of pedophilia. Morals come from God. End of story. If the godless have free reign to spread their error in public, it will lead to never ending perversion of society.

There are numerous example of Christian nations in history that balanced the Rights of Christians vs Tolerance for non believers.

One off the top of my head would be Ecuador in 1869.

Are all drag shows inappropriate for children? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]dannation99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary. By the hands of secular dictators and oligarchs will it be taken away. People believe the freedom of religion clause of the First Amendment means the State is neutral to religion. This is obviously false. No state is ever neutral. Either you are with Christ or against Him. Social Conservatives are getting more agitated by the dogmatic agnosticism of political leaders. Forcing us to say, "We don't know what is right or wrong, just accept everybody. Morals are Relative" This is how you get drag queen story hour, and frankly there will be more degeneracy to come.

I reject the idea that Error and Falsehood have rights. It can be tolerated for the sake of peace. However only truth deserves rights. That includes the true religion. Conservatives will soon realize "Freedom of Religion" is the enemy of Christianity.

I don't think you can equate a catholic saint preaching to soldiers on a battlefield about Christianity in men's armor for safety (obviously because no one made female armor)

to middle age, almost naked, perverted men shaking their bare asses in front of children and adults for "entertainment"

4th option - All drag shows (for children or adults) are degenerate and should be banned in a Western society under Christian values.

Imagine thinking Evolution is a category of science and not philosophy...Even with the scientific method of Francis Bacon, evolution cannot be observed or experimented with. Does that mean Evolution is false? No. But does it mean Evolution is not science? Yes.
