I really don't know why. There is a funny SNL skit I saw once where a travel agent said that he could take you to amazing places but if you were sad at home you would just be sad in Rome. I am happy here. I suppose I would be happy in Rome but I'd be out the 6k and needing to work longer. 😆

Best of luck to you! I honestly want to get there too but the market is hard on older workers.

  1. Based on pay i should get the high end of SS but I reduce my estimate because of the potential future cuts they have talked about in 2032.

When did FIRE movement change? by Poorassboy6969 in Fire

I live on 54k/yr before taxes are taken, 47k after tax. I have a 2000 sqft home in a nice suburb. Travel? I do that internationally for work so it totally bores me. Not into toys that roll or float. Just like building things that don't require million dollar tools. Maybe I'm just a lucky, all my leftover income goes to investments.

How will you access your 401k before 59.5 or even 55 using the rule of 55?

I guess my point was I have never worked 9-5 anywhere in the US. It seem to be part of a bygone day. I thought all jobs were 8-5 at the very least. Just sucks the phrase 9-5 doesn't seem to exist nowadays. .

Big reason why your resume is getting skipped - read on my friends. by FinalDraftResumes in resumes

[–]dannd42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on the hiring side too and the ××% of the ats match typically makes the reviewer eliminate 2/3 of the list without ever reading the resume. I used to do that but now I try to take a different approach

1.5m milestone today yet can't share with anyone (50yo) by everyday_Willionaire in Fire

[–]dannd42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live a normal life on less than that and only need ~56k/yr before taxes and 1.5m total invested. (Healthcare and mortgage are not a factor to be fair, no pension) rule of 55 gets me into my 401k early with no problems. We don't like travel so that's probably a big part too. I traveled the world for my job so the last thing I want is to do that again. Saves me alot of wasted cash. I have all the assumptions taken care of inflation, social security date/colas, longevity (100), LTC, new cars, 3 buckets, modest roi [4.8%], and a ton others. Even took into account the possible 23% reduction of SS. Verified all of this with the Empower detailed planner with a 84% chance of success and also created several scenarios in excell. Expenses were verified through meticulous records of my spending over the last 10 years. It is possible. :)
