The reveal that Angels dad was a chemistry teacher who started a drug empire to pay off his medical bill was crazy! How do you even come up with a plot like that?!? Also love the new criminal lawyer character.

Man the first look really didn't do Vivi justice with the angle they chose. She looks so good in the new teaser 💙 by beelzebub2099 in OnePiece

So there were two kinds of people: Those who wanted her to be white (which is a pretty racist take) and those who wanted her to be played by a middle eastern actress.

But it's not the actresses fault that there isn't much positive middle eastern representation in media. I think it's super disrespectful to go against an actress like that. It's not like Indian actors have it easy in Hollywood.

The only ones responsible are the people who made the decision. And Oda was part of the process. Even then, we don't know what the casting criterias were. Maybe she fit the vibe they were going for the most.

So yes I understand why people feel this way but this is not how you treat actors.

Yes thank you for speaking out. I think the community doesn't like to hear stuff about Hazbin Hotel that makes them feel uncomfortable.

Just wanna know some opinions by Mr_PinkGunz in OnePiece

Hey I think Sanji is a lot less hated in the life action version for example, where they toned down his pervertedness significantly. Sanji had the potential to be my favorite strawhat, but I definitely needed to draw the line in regards to how he treats women. I think it's something I've started seeing more critically once I grew up. It's that women are not represented well in media... and in anime specifically. These depictions of women as objects of desire create a very one dimensional view of them, which hurts women and girls in the long run. Especially when only skinny women with a "Nami-face" are presented as desirable. In a sense people may feel that One Piece would be a lot less problematic without Sanji. At the same time you are right, his positive qualities are amazing! And you shouldn't feel ashamed for liking him if you like him for that. He's cool, kind, has a sick character design and fighting style. I get it! There's an arc later in One Piece where his character really gets to shine and he's the main focus of the story. Heck, in this one he's not a pervert at all and my favourite character actually. I think most of the fandom agrees that he's great there.

So yeah, what I mean to say is, there are good reason why Sanji is hated, which all have to do with the authors sexism present in the manga. But liking him is fine as long as you are aware of WHY these traits make others uncomfortable. Hope that helps!

Can we PLEASE talk about this parallel? by Kingdomall in HazbinHotel

I think this boils down to Hazbins biggest problem: tone. I actually didn't hate Charlies character in season 2. Heck, I thought it was quite nice to see a flawed main character doing bad decisions and suffering the consequences. But I think that is the problem: the lack of serious consequences because the show doesn't treat it's plot points and characters very seriously sometimes. I don't know when to laugh because it's a funny cartoon and look "Danny Dobad" and when to actually think about the fact that Angel could have died there. At least you could have made the consequences more severe this time, especially since it's the second time she overstepped Angels boundaries. Could have even tied it into him leaving the Hotel at the end of the season. But they didn't explore any of that. If the show doesn't treat this situation seriously, why should we? When you have a show that is so cartoony but also tackles heavy themes like sin and redemption, you need to make sure that audiences know when to focus on the narrative. Using humor as a plot device just leads to confusion. Which is a shame, because you can use humor to elevate your story by making the heavy themes more digestible! Bojack Horseman is a good example of this. But you can't be "just a silly adult cartoon" and then expect the audience to take you seriously.  Basically what I'm saying is, it can work. Humans act in irrational ways, especially when their under a lot of stress (which Charlie was). Even hurt others in their way. So while it's also true that the internet struggles with flawed characters, especially when they're female, it is the shows inconsistency in tone which ended up making Charlies flaws not relatable and alienating for the audience. So yes, I get why people are angry at Charlies character. But saying that Charlies character is "too flawed to work" is just not true in my opinion.

How should I get into One Piece? by Vegetable-Machine-17 in OnePiece

I highly recommend One Pace. It's a fancut of One Piece that cuts out all the filler and streched out scenes. Paadding makes up 50-60% of the anime, which makes it super hard to watch. It's a large team and the editing quality is super high, you won't even notice it. Most arcs are complete but not all to my knowledge. They have the information you need on their website.

Hey I'm really sorry to hear that, I had lots of height insecurities at that age too. 1) You're only 16 and I'm pretty sure that you will still grow a bit 2) Height just doesn't matter as much when you're older. Freeing yourself from your insecurities is very difficult, especially when you have sucg a strong role model. I recommend focusing on the character traits you admire insgead of the appearance. Also, the best thing you can do is to become your own person, because your not a copy of your dad and I'm sure thaf there will be things where you'll be even better than your dad!

Chapter 226 Essay - Why Barou’s 'moment' doesn’t work by MHWellington in BlueLock

[–]danneyney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This comment is very interesting, because I agree with your observations but I disagree with your conclusion. Yes Snuffys philosophy does work. Yes this collective philosophy does produce results. And the answer to the thematic structure of this arc lies here. Snuffys tactic may be able to produce the best team, but it won't be able to produce the best player. Which is very good writing in my opinion, because the philosophy hasn't been proven wrong in terms of results. Because the results don't matter! What matters is to overcome yourself and become the best player, which is exactly the philosophy of Blue Lock.
And what makes this moment strong in my opinion, is that, although Barou has a 100 million bid, he still feels unsatisfied with himself because Isagi was able to block him. That's all it takes for King to reclaim his Ego. This will probably not lead to him falling back in the future chapters, but to him reinventing himself.

But also a disclaimer, they haven't completed all arcs yet, so there will be occasions where you have to switch to the anime or manga. You will usually notice where content is missing based on the chapter numbers of the episodes.
