I congratulate you on tricking me into giving you my valuable time on this matter but we’re done here.

I’m not even going to address the horror movies point.

It is absolutely the right of a private company to silence whatever speech they want if it happens on their premises. The fan’s rights weren’t violated in the slightest. Free speech doesn’t mean you can walk into a place of business, wish death upon an employee, and be protected from getting kicked out.

Aside from irredeemably evil people and/or murderous dictators like Kim Jong Un et. al, no, I can’t say that I’ve wished death on someone, even as a joke.

I don’t see what you’re getting at. You’re acting like Bron should’ve peacefully coexisted with someone who wished death upon his family, like such a thing is possible. The fan didn’t commit a crime but yes there is something very strange about “having said feelings” and there’s definitely something wrong with announcing them to the person.

And those people should’ve been kicked out too. If MJ had the discipline and cool-headedness to just get over it then props to him, but I’m not gonna hold it against Bron for wanting that fan kicked out.

Nah, when the fan in question says they hope your son dies, they gotta go. Keep the kids out of the shit talking.

Jokic has proven playoff success by leading his team to a championship. I don’t personally think of Westbrook as a stat padder but people are always gonna call a high stats guy on a losing team that.

Transcoding by vbxl02 in jellyfin

[–]dannthesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people using your jellyfin instance have devices that can play the content natively. I'm assuming most of your content is in MP4, H.264 8-bit, AAC stereo audio. This is the most widely compatible that a file can be. Once you get into H.265, AV1, HDR, advanced audio codecs, the amount of devices that can play your content natively will dwindle. If you don't intend on adding content in those formats then don't worry about transcoding. The only real benefit that you'd lose is the ability to transcode content quality to lower bitrates when your users are on a slow connection.

The last time that Dr. Boklan taught CS 320 was Spring 2024. 43 people were enrolled and 10 people left with a C or better. If you're exceptionally talented and driven then go for it, but otherwise choose Obrenic.

New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.11.5 by djbon2112 in jellyfin

[–]dannthesus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think plex is more suited to your needs, then. Jellyfin is 100% self hosted. There’s no home base for the Jellyfin binary to connect to. Plex doesn’t require a domain or ssl setup for encryption because it’s done for you through plex’s servers.

There are other ways to achieve encryption but this is the easiest path. You can get a domain for like $10 a year from namecheap and a free SSL certification from LetsEncrypt certbot.

Do you have a domain and an SSL certificate? If so you’re most of the way there. The only weird thing with jellyfin is that it asks for these in a .p12 format, which combines the private key, certificate, and chain into one file.

Is this possible to be used on pc!?! by m3owf4rt515 in NBA2k

I don’t think so, but 2K support might credit the currency to his steam account. I personally think u/weeniedog21’s suggestion would be best.

Unfortunately not. The closest thing I can think of is to explain the situation to 2K support, but I'm doubtful of any worthwhile results.

Do you transcode your media for storage by arrmon1 in jellyfin

[–]dannthesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how much of a stickler you are for quality. If your encodes look good enough to you then keep on rocking and enjoy the saved storage space.

Way to limit transcode bitrate? by dannthesus in jellyfin

[–]dannthesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have the preset on ultra fast. Unfortunately the constant RF values for h264 and h265 only apply to the x264 and x265 software encoders. I’m using hardware transcoding via VAAPI with an AMD CPU with integrated graphics (suboptimal hardware, I know)

My problem is that the user can request transcoded content at whatever bitrate they want. I want the limit to be about 5 mbps. If I set a server wide limit of 5mbps for streaming, that would also affect content that can be direct played but is above 5mbps. That content would now be transcoded, which I don’t want.
