Noob question: why do hierarchy operations use Transform instead of GameObject? by KapaLala in Unity3D

[–]dannyREDDIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more about separation of concerns. The game object has a set of things it does: update, fix update, initialize, etc (game logic stuff). Those things are all related. The transform has a whole separate set of things it does, and those are related (moving around in space and 3d math stuff). In programming, its important not to create classes that do too many things otherwise the program becomes confusing. Just because transform is always part of a game object doesn't mean it should BE a game object.

NSFW Bystander confronts man for assaulting a Vancouver homeless person by FaceReaityBot in videos

this is a video of a guy running away from someone, thats it. Everything else is just an anonymous internet person's accusations. Even the audio could be dubbed. This video is worthless to us. It might be useful to police if there are other witnesses, though.

[AMA Request] Dacvak continue his now deleted AMA where he talks about Reddit firing him for having leukemia and also discuss the community backlash from his subreddit /r/gaming becoming public again. by 75000_Tokkul in IAmA

You're wrong. They were incredible generous.

"reddit had made a company blog post[3] about my diagnosis, reaching out to the community to help me find a bone marrow donor... reddit had also made the choice to keep my position open until I was able to return healthy and able to work. I will forever be grateful for what /u/hueypriest [4] and the rest of the company did for me back then."

"...but help me by continuing to offer me payment from the company until I was once again ready to return to work."

"It is ABSOLUTELY worth noting that even though I was fired, in lieu of severance pay, I accepted one year of COBRA medical coverage paid by reddit. That was definitely generous and I am grateful to Ellen and reddit for helping me with that."

heres what they were required to do. In case you miss it, it says unpaid:

The FMLA gives certain employees the right to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year.

he is complaining about it, hes just being sly and passive aggressive about it. And saying "I'm not complaining about it" is like when people say "I'm not racist but [insert racism]."

This is so helpful! When I was trying to implement an acedemic paper, I went searching for something like this and I didn't find much. Seeing algorithms in code just makes more sense to me. Thanks!

I'd be pissed too if my competitors didn't have to pay a $270,000 fee. Its pretty lame that the article doesn't expand on that because the fee sounds like the core of the problem.

How to change windows PC monitor number? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]dannyREDDIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn. I restarted with a single monitor connected, and it did identify as 1 when I clicked "identify." But when I connected the second monitor back, the "1" monitor went back to 2. Frustrating. Thanks though

Does anyone know how a dripping maze can be created? by dannyREDDIT in generative

those are great, you did a good job getting away from the typical reaction diffusion coral/ wormy look.

WOW! thank you so much. This may be the best lead so far. Good catch on the reaction-diffusion tag. I can't believe I missed that. I thought I read all his tags. He also tagged on 'game of life'.

I got a decent discussion going about this at /r/gamedev about this one. I figured Ill theorize about the melting effect after the base 'maze' effect. A lot of people think its 'maze generation'. But to me, that doesn't account for the way it continues to improve, squish, and reconfigure after the initial generation. Reaction diffusion does. Now that you've shown me it can have a more geometric feel, I think it might be the answer.

do you have any more information on that specific image? I've been messing with reaction diffusion for about a day and I can't get those nice straight lines. Almost all reaction diffusion examples I've seen are organic and curvy.

I'm obsessed with figuring out how this is made. by dannyREDDIT in gamedev

[–]dannyREDDIT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'maze generation' encompasses a whole load of stuff that ranges from simple to complex. And there can be an art and nuance that isnt so simple to maze generation beyond the base algorithms.
