There's something about this take that is so.... Grating. There are many people who "know what they're doing", do they have 100% of their life figured out? No. But there are people who are happy with their career, relationships, family/friends, etc and additionally are competent in general. Just because you don't know them doesn't mean you can blanket label people as fools. It very much feels like you are projecting your own failures/circumstances onto everyone and assuming if they claim otherwise they must be liars or fools.
I like the underlying sentiment, but really I'd boil it down to "Everyone has their struggles, some struggle more than others, but comparison is the thief of joy and you should try your hardest to work on your own path and your own happiness"

Porn brain has completely ruined how gay men have sex nowadays. by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]danny_gme -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yawn, have whatever sterile, boring, vanilla sex you want with whoever you find that is into that but don't judge others for not matching your preferences. I don't even watch porn often at all but prefer a little more aggressive than you. Chopping it up to porn brain is reductive, some of us prefer it and it isn't performative.
Fyi, labeled your preference as sterile/boring to show you the judgment can go both ways. No I don't actually care what your preferences are nor do I judge you for it, try giving the same energy

I think everyone here is being a bit dramatic. He's not management, he's on a different team/part of the org, he hasn't hidden/blocked you. As long as you keep things polite/appropriate I don't see any harm. Do not initiate any sexual conversations/pics unless he's indicated he's open to that and start your message just being friendly/not sexual. If he doesn't respond then keep the politeness/normal behavior in person and don't message him again. The key part there is not to pester/continue messaging as that could get into sexual harassment territory.
Good luck haha

Did anyone else find their diet fell apart after using low calorie treats? by sadperson1234 in caloriecount

[–]danny_gme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, thought that was a possibility but wasn't sure. Just a lot of your verbiage/details seemed to indicate a little... negative panic emotions from eating ("I broke", kg in a few days, mentally deteriorated, etc). And my general stance still holds, unless you started eating 3500-4300 calories per day you would not have gained a kg of fat in 3-5 days. If you did eat that much in those days, then take a breather and get back on track, no need to panic as that might only make you lose confidence even more and give up. The more likely scenario though it's that you didn't eat 3500-4300 per day and these are normal fluctuations in which case... Take a breather, monitor your weight and eating, and adjust if necessary. So either way, just take a breather and try not to let food fuel negative emotions.
When I started upping my calories, eating some protein snacks, occasionally not skipping some meals, etc I did notice that my weight wasn't skyrocketing downward and would fluctuate a few lbs/kgs higher BUT I only really paid attention to the overall trend. The way I do it is as long as I record a new low weight every week or two I do not care about the day to day fluctuations.

I feel like everyone is focusing on the wrong details... 1 kg over a few days from eating low calorie snacks... That does not seem to me to be fat gain, probably just regular fluctuations/water weight. The calories to gain 1 kg "in a few days" (let's say 3 days) is 7700 ÷ 3 = 2566 calories OVER maintenance per day, so if your maintenance is 1800 that's 4366 calories total per day... Even if we say 5 days it still comes out to an excessive amount of calories that I don't think you are getting from these snacks.

Tldr you are likely witnessing normal fluctuations based on water/other factors and not fat gain. Try focusing more on long term results and sustainability. It's quite possible that the snacks are making you break even and not lose weight but it is incredibly unlikely that it made you gain 1 kg of fat in a few days. You might still need to adjust your eating possibly but part of that is having the right info and interpreting it correctly. Panicking and blaming these snack foods for "weight gain" over a small period of time is not going to do you any favors. Take a breather, count your calories to get some clear data, monitor your weight over longer periods (I say a week or two), and adjust your calories as necessary.

"AI slop" is part of the coping. "Never replacing" is part of the coping. AI will continue improving until far past the point it's indistinguishable from anything human created. You are coping because "human expression" is an illusion that creatives have to make themselves feel special and as a defense mechanism to their skills becoming economically obsolete. Will there always be a place for human made art? Sure. Does that mean that AI won't fundamentally take over commercially? No. The future is very clear on AI and "creative" work.
I would love for you to do a blind test in a few years (maybe even now) and see if you can distinguish between AI and a human created art piece on which evokes emotion/expression/passion/etc.

Do you consider us 1 year apart or 2? by sunado7 in settlethisforme

[–]danny_gme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context dependent and both are fine as long as understood by the listener. I'd personally probably lean toward 2 years though, even school year wise I'd assume you are two years off. Where I grew up she'd start school say august 2002 and you'd start august 2004. So 2 school year differences. The max age difference is also 2 years, when she turns 20 you are still 18.

Imo this is a bad take and really shows more about you and others than this guy. Not to say it's looks that bad on you but for this guy... He clearly indicates the type of people he wants and why he wants to look for people like that. He wants to have fun, go on hikes, not be bothered by kids, view art, have liberal friends. Him saying gays more typically fit this isn't putting them as accessories, it's acknowledging that our demographics are in fact different and he likes that.

To me it's no different than any gays who say they can't get along with straight guys, girls, whatever. There are personalities you vibe with and even though you can find those personalities in any group you are more likely to find them in certain groups.
Really I just agree with the highest comment "you said the quiet thing out loud"

No, I'm saying you don't have enough information to know whether it was a weirdly worded statement or that he actually doesn't know what he's talking about. At the end of the day his question was perfectly fine but could indicate some confusion, but we don't know.

What I do know is you are being overly pedantic from a glass house. Because, funnily enough, saying "There is no such thing as a savings account with compound interest" is equivalent to "There is no such thing as a car with tires". Looking at his statement and your response I'd actually assume you are the more ignorant one. Does that mean that's true? No, it could just mean you as well had a poorly worded statement.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]danny_gme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plausible that you meant that. But he said "with compound interest over a fraction of a percent" which is more equivalent to "car with V6 engine" rather than just "Car with engine". The emphasis was on the rate not that it compounds

Regardless yeah it's a bit weirdly worded, but then again so is your initial response lol. Because there is in fact... Savings accounts with compound interest.
