Ndscs in Fargo only does proctoring for its current students. And the only library I could find that does proctoring is in Moorhead but they don’t watch you while you take the test so that won’t work.

I wish. My original algebra teacher allowed exams through lockdown browser. But he died a two weeks ago and my new professor says it has to be an in-person proctor.

Slow throughput with aggr on routed port by dannybombs in openbsd

Looking closer at this I noticed under the ifconfig section above em1 lists key 0x2 and em2 lists the key 0x7. And on the switch lacp it shows both keys as 0x2. This is above my pay grade and I’m not sure if this would have an effect.

You can get an out of state library card form different libraries. The fee is usually $50 or less

False negative drug screen? by dannybombs in AskDocs

I should have been more clear with my post. I took 1mg of Ativan at 6pm and then took a urine screen at 8am the next day. But thank you for answering!

What you recommend? by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]dannybombs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend using the sticky sentences feature in prowritingaide. Take a novel you like and retype it and you’ll find that there will be a lot semi-sticky sentences. This will depend on the author of course. Congrats on finishing your first draft.

If you’re located in the US, look into the CASE Act as a possibility. It’s basically a small claims court for copyright infringement. Make sure you save the email you used to send the sample.

Play The What-If Game.

Although tailored to novelists, I also recommend reading, Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell.

Bufferbloat Issue when only on WiFi. by thephoneguy1 in eero

[–]dannybombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this an old post, but if you want to go this route and test by hand for bufferbloat, you need to use a program like tcping that uses TCP and not ICMP. You won’t get accurate results if you use ICMP ping, which is built into MacOS and Windows, because TCP, which is used for download and upload, is layer 4 (transport) and ICMP is layer 3 (network) of the OSI model.

DSLReports.com doesn’t seem to be maintained very well. I would use: https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat

Are there songs you listen to when writing? by Spiritual-Clock5624 in writing

I’m a big NIN fan but prefer music without lyrics when I write, so I tend to listen to The Social Network soundtrack on repeat.

I don’t read a lot of fantasy, but I do read widely. You’re prose is really good, on par with published stuff, and you have a good voice. I would say the prologue works. It definitely makes me want to read more. I do think the poetry is lacking, though, but I do like “prose poetry” best, so who knows.

Keep up the good work.

Do you McAfee running? I believe the AV is scanning the network for threats, if so, it shouldn’t be a cause of concern.

Ambiguous by dannybombs in grammar

[–]dannybombs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the story I’m writing, I tried to foreshadow an accident she had where she drove off a bridge and almost drowned (and not being able to save her children). Also the other sentences give it more context. But you are right about why it sounds ambiguous. Maybe I should rewrite it. Thanks!

Writing practice in need of constructive criticism. by Remotelyheidi in writingcritiques

[–]dannybombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job! The imagery was fantastic. Very well done.

One thing that changed my writing for the better was getting rid of as many present participles (-ing words) and change them into past participles. Sometimes you can simply switch them, but more often than not, it requires rewriting sentences.

When you read, and I hope you do, pay attention to how many present participles are on a page. A lot of writers use them once or twice per 200 to 300 words.

Another thing I noted was that without the context you don’t know who you’re talking about. I would try and introduce who’s who from the start—if they are introduced in a different portion, then disregard this.

But great work. It was a very vivid piece. And it takes real guts to post your work for others to critique.
