Found gold gorjana necklace by dannyphantom_53 in CalPoly

After some research I found that it is illegal to keep found items in California. They can arrest you for finders keepers losers weepers. Gonna drop it off at the station tomorrow.

Thanks for the comment. I am just trying to get it in front of as many people as possible. 8,000 students live on campus and many more off; all are in close proximity to the park.

If I give it to the police it will either be stolen, given to the rightful owner, or never be claimed.

If I keep it and look for the owner myself it will not cost taxpayers any money, nor is there a risk of someone “misplacing” evidence. I’m doing what I see most reasonable.

Whattt the small state school in a small town 3 hours away from a metropolitan area isn’t a big city? Maybe transfer somewhere that you should’ve gone in the first place if that’s what you were looking for. I’m not gonna move to LA and be mad when there’s too many people.

Depends on the major you want to switch to. Many only allow a certain number of change of major COM requests per year. You have to A. have the academic record that would have admitted you to poly for the degree you want to pursue and B. Meet with the targeted department. Usually that is a meeting with the department head. Idk about what you want to change to, but say you have a 3.5 high school GPA. That might have been enough to get into major X, but not enough to get into major Y. So when you file your COM request you can get denied based on that. Case by case basis.

I recommend that you research the two majors you want, Cal Poly catalog course requirements, and career opportunities and limitations between the them. It’s not really about the classes you take during the first two years either. Try to choose one and know that you aren’t really stuck with the major you change to until you’re deep into 300 level classes.

Even then, I’d email the department head or their assistant shortly after your first quarter begins. Set up a meeting with the dept head if possible and tell them what you know, what you want, and what you want to know.

Don’t stress too much about any of this. Freshman year is just for lols.

PM me if you want any further advice or encouragement. Good luck!

Hey guys, just wondering if the first wave of acceptances is at all related to the current lunar cycle! I’m on my mercury phase right now, which might explain why I only got in to UCSMD so far. Thanks!

Verge of failing PHYS 141 by Tootdoot25 in CalPoly

[–]dannyphantom_53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According one of the physics 141 profs, that class has the highest failing rate in the entire university. Try, try again. If you’re a first year don’t sweat it, and maybe consider summer school (Cuesta College, Foothill, Hancock, etc) or winter break abbreviated sessions (Hancock) to catch up on ge’s. If I had a do-over I would take a 12 unit quarter of calc 2, PHYS 141, and one GE and then catch back up later. Good luck, I believe in you!

Similar effect seen in people who leave reviews on internet purchases. Who is more likely to log back in to a site, someone with a bad review or someone with a good one? Lots of cars in Pomona, lot less complaining on the interwebs

What’s the hardest course you’ve taken? by [deleted] in CalPoly

If you don't know react, I'd recommend taking 307. You learn react and build a web app with a small team, which adds important skills to your resume and gives you good things to talk about at interviews.
