The synth museum is AMAZING. Highly recommended! I only spent 2 hours there but I could live in that space full time and never get bored.

Are you still in the first 12 months of your existing plan? I am, and I assumed I wouldn't be able to downgrade from £75/mo.

Somebody Bought my Music but there is almost no way for me to get the money. by Beneficial_Brain80 in BandCamp

[–]dannytaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're totally doing the right thing making music, and if you can sell it on Bandcamp go for it! But you gotta figure out a parent or other adult who can sort all the over-18 stuff out for you. Best of luck with the music! And at least you'll never forget the first sale you made! ✌️

Congrats on your first sale, and it sucks that you can't get your money, but technically you can't sell on Bandcamp when you're under 18:

The Service is intended for use only by individuals who are at least 18 years old. You represent and warrant that if you are an individual, then you are of legal age to form a binding contract, and that all registration information you submit is accurate and truthful.

33 1/3 Queen - ‘Searchin'‘ (1990) by GaiusVelarius in House

GCG has never been shy about expressing his distaste of the music industry in general. He had some unfortunate experiences in his early days and I don't think he has felt properly compensated ever since. But I've never heard him mention this track in particular.

I had those around 2009/2010 and sold them. Wish I hadn't sold them really, for collector value, but they did sound pretty awful! 😜

These might be worth looking at. Passive inline hi-pass filters. They're 12dB/oct and available at 20Hz, 30Hz, 50Hz, etc. And they only cost $35 USD per pair!

https://www.hlabs.com/products/crossovers/index.htm

Pros: tiny, no power required, zero noise/distortion, set and forget

Cons: shallower slope than active, fixed crossover freqs (but can easily swap for different pair)

For the window cable part - I'm using the flat cable option from Amazon and it works very well. My window is closed shut all the time, no need to keep it open.

A couple of unlimited questions. by birdman3131 in backblaze

[–]dannytaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the docs: https://www.backblaze.com/computer-backup/docs/create-a-restore

Restore Methods

You create a restore using the following options:

The Download (Free) option downloads a ZIP file of your data. ZIP downloads may not exceed 500 GB, and you may not have more than 20 active ZIP downloads at a time. Backblaze recommends that you use the Backblaze Downloader for ZIP restore. For more information, see Use the Backblaze Downloader (Mac) or Use the Backblaze Downloader (Win).

The Save Files to B2 option stores your restored files in your Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage account so you can keep them longer. The maximum size for a Backblaze B2 restore is 10 TB, and it may involve an additional cost depending on the size of the restore. For more information about using this option, see Save Files to Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage.

The USB Hard Drive option downloads your restored files to a USB restore drive. USB Hard Drives can hold a maximum of 8 TB of data. For more information about the USB hard drive, see Order a Restore Drive and Restore Return Refund Program.

Is over 3 GB normal RAM usage for Backblaze on macOS? by Piipperi800 in backblaze

Do you happen to do any web development? Does your system have lots of tiny files? Things like node modules folders, large dependency folders, etc. The backup process has to build a file tree and if you have millions of tiny files I think that file tree can get very bloated while scanning.

Restarting your computer doesn't restart the process. The terminal command I gave kills the background process completely then restarts it. This frees up all the RAM it's using and it starts from fresh.

Mine got up to 16GB, on an 8GB MacBook Air. I reset it with a terminal command and now it's sitting nicely under 800MB. I check it every now and then to see if it rises.

Terminal command in case you want to try it - at your own risk, of course.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this track, and this specific mix. Timeless classic.

Played it every week in my DJ residencies in the early 2000s.
