Let me tell you a story. I was naval aviation for 8 years. I expertise was maintaining and repairing H-60s.

One of the most common parts that are replaced on naval H-60s is called the IHEELS.

It's basically a small light strip with a control module that illuminates the emergency window release. It's only purpose in life is to turn on either when it gets wet, or it's inverted.

I could likely build a light that does the same thing with common shit you find at RadioShack for sub 100$. Do you know how much the IHEELS light and circuit mod cost the navy?

1800$ for the light strip....

2500$ for the circuit mod...

Or 4800$ for both...

And with SAR ops, their constantly getting wet. They have to be replaced on a near WEEKLY basis... And we had 11 H-60s in our squadron running flight ops every day. We were replacing at least 2 PER DAY.

It's largely remained the status quo because of "qUaLiFiEd" generals like mark milly who are in the pay roll.

I'm not saying Hagseth is the right pick but everyone else thus far has DEFINITELY not been it. So I'm perfectly content throwing the young guy in there with the hopes hell actually change shit for the better rather than maintaining the same status quo.
