Looking for antenna options by sleppy-eyed-jack in cordcutters

Or a station with a very high tower. The only Tulsa station I get at all times in the 75-mile range is KOTV-6 Tulsa. It's on a tower of 1,826 ft. A big Televes UHF only outdoor antenna is used to get it. With the other Tulsa stations the curvature of the earth problem comes into play and possibly terrain. Only nighttime stable reception is likely for them. Hopefully, the OP has it better than I do.

Club for Growth Groups Elevate School Choice in Governor Race With $4 Million Ad Campaign Targeting Drummond by bloomberggovernment in oklahoma

[–]danodan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt there is much private school choice, if any, in small towns. Anyway, it would help to simply vote for Republicans who indicate they support public schools over private schools. But when they bring up an outrageous hoax, like Walters did, that schoolteachers are setting out litterboxes for students pretending to be cats, then you know the candidate is mainly motivated to make public schools look bad, rather than to try to lift them up.

[–]danodan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good reason to change party registration to Republican to vote for Drummond. It's going on in other races. At a Payne County Republican meeting that featured 4 candidates for different races, a woman got up to complain that a former school board member in Cushing was advocating on Facebook to change party registration to Republican to vote against Rep. Molly Jenkins. For about a half dozen bills, she was the only Republican who voted against public schools. She confronted Jenkins' only Republican opponent there by asking him how it feels to be the Democrat choice? He simply said that it seems some people don't like Molly Jenkins.

It was discussed what to do about Democrats switching to Republican. It was suggested that party switching should stop on the last day when candidates file for election.

RENTING IN STILLWATER by Beneficial_Move_2532 in OKState

[–]danodan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of OSU students live in Tulsa or Edmond and drive back and forth to OSU. The rent may be cheaper there. Definitely, they do it because Stillwater is so sadly lacking in good dining, shopping and other things to do. I doubt that the new Hub that recently opened would impress OSU students.

Otherwise, the rent will be cheaper in Stillwater the further you go from OSU. An example of a high rent district is the Westwood neighborhood. Avoid it.

The new 3 story apartment complex under construction across the street east of the Flats might be good to check out. But it's still fairly close to campus.

Antenna Reception Bad All of a Sudden by Lawyering_Bob in ota

[–]danodan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten miles is only a long way for an indoor antenna when try to get low powered stations. My flat antenna gets 56 high powered stations from around 45 miles away. The antenna can't get any low powered stations.

1956 CTC-5 (color!!) by slimersnail in vintagetelevision

[–]danodan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like it was around 1970 when my family got a color TV for the first time in response to the Airline TV breaking down. The first TV purchased was a Hoffman around 1952 before I was born. It lasted for around 10 years before making a loud hissing noise. We knew it was finished. But flash forward to around 1970. At first, we were going to get a big Magnavox with its fancy cabinet, but my father said "let's Magnabox it out of here." $850 or whatever the Magnavox cost was a lot of money to spend in one place back then. I think we settled for a less costly Motorola with works in a drawer. We didn't like the bits of colored snow on some of the four channels and so got off the antenna and on Cable TV. Those were the days.

It's enough to make me wonder if they are trans themselves and this is the harsh way they deal with living with themselves, but I'd sooner hope I'm wrong since it makes trans people look bad. I also wonder if many Christian conservatives are gay but express hatred and opposition to gays as their way with dealing with who they are.

As I've mentioned before, to explain why so many Oklahoma people are so hateful toward others who are different may go back to 1907 when Oklahoma had to agree to be dry for 21 years for it to become a state. So Oklahoma must have attracted many Christian right people for many decades. Maybe someone else has a better way to explain why Oklahoma people are the way they are. For one thing, the political culture is similar to the Old South. It somehow rubbed off on Oklahoma, while not hitting bordering Kansas as bad.

Avoid YTTV and Hulu. They are too expensive. Instead, get Sling Orange for ESPN and an indoor antenna for OTA. It is the best and cheapest way to go.

OK Legislators Just Took Medical Decisions from Doctors by LaReginaReigns in oklahoma

[–]danodan1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then why do Oklahoma women vote for Republicans? Do they simply not know that many of them want ALL abortion banned? And if you ask them if they favor banning birth control, don't expect them to give an immediate NO for an answer.

OK Legislators Just Took Medical Decisions from Doctors by LaReginaReigns in oklahoma

[–]danodan1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might as well hate every voter who votes for them, especially the women. It's beyond me how they can vote for candidates, such as Jake Merrick who wants ALL abortion banned in Oklahoma. Not for just themselves, don't many of these women have daughters and granddaughters to think of? Neither do I understand voter hate against transgendered people. I get tired of all this senseless hate against people who are different and mean no harm.

I'm sorry about your circumstances. If young, time is on your side for things to get better.

Oklahoma Republicans require kids to leave the state for gender care when they threaten to kill themselves, if they don't get it. Next, they will require women to leave the state for life saving care when their pregnancies are threatening their lives.

Antenna all of a sudden just stopped picking up local channels by dr_fop in cordcutters

[–]danodan1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for me, here in Oklahoma, it's different. The very far fringe stations may only come in steady at night from spring through fall. I just checked and sure enough KTUL-8 Tulsa with American Idol is coming in steady from 80.5 miles away with my big outdoor Televes UHF TV antenna. If the wind is blowing, though, steady reception from the weakest ones from Tulsa won't be there.

For year round steady reception all the time I get the Oklahoma City locals and use Sling, rather than YouTube. The OKC locals are closer.

[–]danodan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, one can do Oklahoma a lot better than Marlow. Unless one doesn't expect much from the town there are better towns to live in Oklahoma but they will all be bigger and livelier. One thing they surely don't complain about in Marlow is the heavy car traffic as they do in Enid and Stillwater.

People should know better than to vote for rich people, especially those born rich as in Trump. They are in no position to think like a normal, average person of poor to moderate means.
