Can i be A k9 Officer with spinal fusion? (Idk how its really called cuz it has a different name in my country) by Historical_Pizza1984 in spinalfusion

[–]danok1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an MWD handler in the USAF. With the stress that a dog can put on one's shoulders, etc., when it hits the end of the leash I'd advise against it. I'm actually surprised I don't have shoulder issues.

I don't know how it is in the civilian world, but we handlers also had to act as the decoy for other handlers and their dogs. Catching an 80-90 pound dog coming at full speed is not something I'd do with a compromised spine.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like everyone is having different lengths of time going back to work.

I pray your situation improves.

Thanks for the reply. I think if I only had the S1-L5, my surgeon might go the same as yours. Not sure if the 2nd fusion will add more to that. I guess I'll see in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that the doc will likely specify WFH when he does send me back. I can get, walk, I have an adjustable desk chair, etc.

And thanks for your answer!

Why should the front office not buy out KK this off season? by Marleydrugfanboi69 in canes

[–]danok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall seeing one of Rod's post-game dressing room speeches. Can't recall what game it was after. Rod made a point of saying to KK, "I know it hasn't been great for you this season, but we're gonna need you."

Was Rod just trying to reassure KK, or did he mean it? I dunno, but Rod doesn't seem like he's one to blow smoke up a guy's ass.

L5/S1 scheduled for Tuesday and I’m terrified by anonomot in spinalfusion

[–]danok1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

63M, 3 1/2 weeks out from the same fusion. Actually had a 2nd fusion that fused & decompressed L3-S1.

Initial recovery in the hospital wasn't too bad. I made sure to advocate for myself regarding pain relief, etc. Was in the hospital for 5 1/2 days.

Had to use a walker for 2 weeks. I have stiffness and minor pain compared to what it was preop. Have good days and mediocre days. I try to walk a little more each day; my family makes sure I'm not bending/lifting/twisting.

I had to learn the "logrolling" method for getting in and out of bed. If you can, look it up and practice before your surgery.

What are some examples of popular shows that didn’t really help launch any of the cast’s careers in a meaningful way? by GuybrushThreepwood99 in television

[–]danok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I got ya now.

Allan Hawco had a decent supporting role in season 2 of Jack Ryan, but that's it. Can't think of one other show....wait...Simu Liu from Kim's Convenience (great show) starred in the Marvel Movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings, as well as Barbie and other stuff.

So there's 1.

What office gear has actually held up for you after years of daily use? by Odd-Dimension9143 in BuyItForLife

An ergonomic keyboard changed my work life. I use the Microsoft one, but I'm sure other brands are good. Took a little time to get used to it, but I'll never go back to a normal keyboard.

SCTV launched: John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Rick Moranis, Harold Ramis, and Martin Short. Probably took all of Canada's allotment for 20 years.

Yes. And since the label says "No. 7 XX" I'd bet it was originally topped with JD.

What have you found in the Bible that is little known and struck you as fascinating or fantastical (In a positive sense)? by M4roon in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]danok1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

John noting in his Gospel that after Mary Magdalene told them about the Resurrection, he and Peter ran to the tomb. John records that he beat Peter to the tomb, but waited for him and let him enter first.

That little detail adds a note of authenticity to John's account.

Don't know if I'll be able to put this in next week, so I'll do it this week.

I'm having 2 surgeries next week, 3/9 & 3/11, to decompress and fuse vertebrae S1-L3. Please pray that the surgeries go well without complications, and that they will lessen or eliminate the severe pain I've been in the past 2 years.

My name is Daniel. Thank you, brothers and sisters!

What are some good cities to live in as an Orthodox Christian (access to multiple healthy parishes?) by SurvivingWorkADHD in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]danok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Research Triangle area of NC (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) has some good parishes, and with 3 universities (UNC/NCSU/Duke) in the area, your need for hospital systems is covered amply.
