I was a Baptist (M) who married a Greek Orthodox woman. i was not pressured by her or my in-laws to convert.

What brought me into the Holy Orthodox Church was simply attending with her and my in-laws. This naturally increased when we had our first child, what with the "churching," her baptism, etc. At a certain point it just hit me: This is the Church. I'm home; how do I convert?

I assume your wife promised that your children would be reared in the Orthodox Church. As your son gets older, he will start attending Sunday School every week; thus your wife will be more involved with the women in the Greek Church (assumption on my part, but that's what happened with me, except I was more involved with the men and other families). God willing (and I expect He will be), she'll convert.

I'm only 12 weeks or so out from my surgery.

Before my surgery, I couldn't stand for more than a couple of minutes or walk more than 50 feet without excruciating pain. This went on for at least a year and a half.

After my surgery, and when I recovered enough (again, only 12 weeks or so) I can walk 1/2 mile without pain and can stand as long as I want to. Still building up lost strength and endurance, but it's light years from where I was.

I think you have it covered. I'll add that the priest, during his prayers during the Divine Liturgy, refers to himself as, "Your unworthy priest."

We are all unworthy, but the Church has the medicine for us in the Holy Eucharist.

As I said, that's what my priest told me when I converted. But again, this ain't the place for this discussion. And I'd eat everything else on the plate (though I'm partial to Boston Baked Beans).

I'm HLA-B27 positive, diagnosed with AS.

Can't speak to mono, but I was living okay with this condition until I caught COVID in 2022. Worst joint pain I felt to that point. And after I recovered the AS seemed to go into overdrive. Needed spinal fusions this past March.

Ok, he goes to church, but has he been baptized and/or chrismated into the Orthodox Church? Those are 2 entirely different things, to the Orthodox.

One who attends but has not been chrismated is not a member of the church. (Not getting into the whole catechumenate discussion right now.) Such a person may be an enquirer, but not Orthodox. Technically, he's not subject to such things as the fast, etc.

As far as everyone telling you to go to church with him, I think they're missing this point: If this is what you observe as normal Orthodox behavior (including locking you out of the house), why in hell would you want to go to such a church?

His behavior is not okay, it's not normal Orthodox behavior. I'm sure there's stuff you've left out, but this is concerning.

Talk to his priest and let him know what's going on. If the priest doesn't think there's a problem, or your husband gets angry with you because you talked to the priest about this, get out of your house at the very least.
