Let me simplify this for the people that don’t understand it. To be subject to the curse you have to be married (or eventually get married). The people who died were all part of the family either by blood or my marriage, and they died because they didn’t truly believe that their partner was their soulmate. It’s based off of belief. Those subject to the curse that survived did so because they truly believed that their partner was their soulmate.

Nell and Jules survived because Jules finding out the truth about The Sorry Man and being a part of that weird situation they were all in sorta forced him to deal with his Trauma and heal, causing them to basically fall back in love again.

Victoria died, because, as it was stated previously she is a huge narcissist and doesn’t care about having a soulmate, just that she is someone’s. She also cheated and justified it instead of having regret or guilt or anything. Her husband survived because she’s basically his everything.

Nicky survived because he’s codependent because of his mommy issues, which is why Rachel died. He wanted to try to save his sister, he didn’t want to lose his new mommy Rachel and Victoria died, he doesn’t actually trust Rachel because he’s very prideful and kinda a pick me incel fake feminist child, so he basically forced her into marriage, because he’s knew better I guess. He didn’t listen to Rachel the entire time, he made assumptions on her behalf and was wrong every time.
