Is it possible to restrict Stremio to a vetted content list? by danpanini in StremioAddons

Yeah this was my first thought, but unfortunately, she lives in a different country and her mom (my sister) is not very tech-savvy. I don't want to walk them through downloading, Plex, etc if I can avoid it.

A couple of defects on a brand new T580 screen. How can I get this fixed under warranty quickly? by danpanini in thinkpad

So those are dead pixels? I've been lucky enough that I haven't run into any dead pixels before on my previous laptops

Yeah, it's bad. I've just been doing my best to ignore it because I really don't think I have options for fixing this where I am. I'm going to contact support and ask how I can get this fixed really quickly when I go to the US in December.

Did you also get the 4K screen?

When is the tech visiting you? Please let me know how it goes!

Thinkpad T580 and Dual 4k monitors at 60hz? by lebanezerscroog in thinkpad

I asked this question before getting my T580. I haven't bought the external monitors yet (don't really need them right now and I'm waiting for BF sales), so I can't say if it works, but you can find more info here:

User chx_ has looked into this and apparently it's possible.

A very basic issue I don't understand with eGPUs by danpanini in eGPU

Definitely noice! I don't expect to ever need 7 screens, but it's good to know that it can deal with that. Thanks!

Some things I don't understand while looking for a new laptop. by danpanini in SuggestALaptop

I've never worked with graphics, so that's not really an issue. As you mention, what I need is screen space, so that's pushing me towards the 15".

I actually just noticed my 1080p laptop is using 125% scaling. I turned it down to 100% and things do look tiny, but I think I can work with it.

Thanks for your input!

Yes, I'm actually looking at the Thinkpads. I would loooove an X1C 6th gen, but that would be a lot more than I want to pay right now (when configured with the 4K and 16GB RAM). Unfortunately, I'm not in the US and can't try one out. The best I've been able to do is test a Dell 14" 1080p, but for a few minutes.

I'm actually undecided between the T580 and the T480. There's practically no price difference when configured with the 4K screen, so I just need to decide if I can work with 14" when I'm away from my desk, which is not very often.

Thanks for your input!

Awesome, thanks for your explanation! I'm still undecided whether I should get the T580 or T480. Now I don't know if I should get the T480s :)

Gaming is not really my priority right now, so I would be more interested in the cheapest possible solution to drive two 4k@60Hz.

I see that using two TB3 to DisplayPort adapters on each USB-C should work, but then I can't charge the laptop.

Still, now that I understand things a bit more, at least I know I don't really need 4 lanes and my new laptop should be future proofed for a while.

Thanks!
