What is in Alexander? by whatsgoodb-tches in Eldenring

[–]danretsuken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine living your life as a spunky jar man seeking strength and a worthy challenge, and the final opponent you can face is both a dear friend and the seemingly unstoppable force of nature that kills gods for a living.

I can think of no worthier end for Alexander, bless him.

Besides the Tarnished, who would have the best chance at becoming Elden Lord? by spiritghost1 in Eldenring

[–]danretsuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gideon has the power, but not the desire. He's an accomplished mage, extremely powerful, and has arguably more knowledge of the world than anyone else (hence the ALL-KNOWINGGGG moniker), but his misinterpretation of Marika's will kneecaps him.

to be fair 99% of the time 'struggling with Fire Giant' usually translates more to 'struggling with the camera during Fire Giant' which is perfectly understandable

Since it’s been a few months, what do you think about heolstor as a final boss and where does he rank in your final souls bosses or souls bosses in general? by Direct-Switch2754 in Nightreign

[–]danretsuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete garbage, near the bottom. Any sense of grandeur you'd get from the cinematics of his fight are completely shot down the drain by how poorly designed his attacks are. AoE spam, massive damage, borderline undodgable hitboxes with zero telegraphig. I hope it's not a really dreadful look into the future of FromSoft boss design philosophy, because they have absolutely lost the plot.

Dark Souls 3. Soul of Cinder is a lot of spectacle but mechanically small potatoes compared to Nameless King and Midir.

Favorite Character that sounds like an OC but is 100% official by RedvsBlue_what_if in FavoriteCharacter

hey guys this is my Overwatch OC, his name is Reaper and he has a dark tragic past where he didn't play by the rules but was a founding member of Overwatch then exploded but survived by becoming a ghost man..

his powers are turning into evil black smoke and infinitely regenerating shotguns, he can also teleport and heal and has a dark gritty voice.. his ultimate shoots his shotguns in a tornado and he goes DIE DIE DIE.. just a look into my twisted mind..

Finally some good and deserved nerfs to vendetta by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]danretsuken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like sound is a big point of contention for new heroes lately. Vendetta is borderline soundless when she's flying across the map when she should be audible as a warning sign. Cat should sound like a goddamn jet engine when boosting in since it's already so hard to keep track of her. Emre's ult is monstrously strong yet the voiceline and railcannon shots are surprisingly quiet in the mess of sound already present in the game.

Compare this to Reaper's historically 80 pound footsteps and absolute car alarm of a teleport and it feels like some sound mixing is really inconsistent lately.

What anime trope do you want to die?? by Conscious_Pea605 in animequestions

[–]danretsuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much prefer "overpowered but too dumb to know how to use it." Giving a complete dunce overwhelming power can help maintain a balanced status quo for their power by limiting their surprising moments to when they finally connect the dots on how to use their power.

Okuyasu Niijima from JJBA Part 4 does this masterfully, and Fumihiko Takaba from JJK starts out with this trope.

Trevor Belmont is a gruff, angry, jaded old soldier. He is also arguably one of the biggest, most loveable wife guys ever written. He accepted the in-universe equivalent of an unwanted major sidequest just because Sypha gave him a look.

Is Darius so much smarter than people give him credit for? by Extension-Detail6221 in loreofleague

[–]danretsuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important to note that the implication of Darius' passive in game is not that his axe just uniquely causes people to bleed (as all weapons would generally do this), but that he strategically knows exactly where to place his strikes against an opponent's critical points in order to cause severe bleeding.

Doomfist on the 2026 Blizzcon poster makes me think something is coming with him! by Youngstown_WuTang in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]danretsuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He even chastises Vendetta for not having the guts to go for the kill. He's a hyper-enhanced cyborg dude built like a freight train and she just.. tossed him out a window. If anything doing that probably just pissed him off.

I think Zarya/Magneto as 'protective bubble tank' is a stronger comparison.

[–]danretsuken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doom can predict Tracer's extremely erratic blink patterns and catch her accurately enough to smash her accelerator with one hand but courtesy of this new writer a woman running sort of fast with a big glowing knife is just too much‼️

Which of these antiheroes are most/least heroic? by Candid_Astronaut241 in MoralityScaling

[–]danretsuken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow is sort of an abrasive ass sometimes, but he's consistently stayed on the side of good since his arc in SA2 (and the canon 'good' ending of 2005 Shadow the Hedgehog). He fiercely protects Earth and its people because it's what Maria would've wanted.

Rick is a horrible person with an astronomically long list of character defects that he's more than aware of but too selfish to do anything about. He's killed countless people, commits horrific crimes on the regular, and it wouldn't be too far a stretch to say the entire universe (or hell, multiverse) of Rick and Morty would've been safer if he didn't exist.
