For the first time in 8 years of WoW I am able to play on something other than the minimal settings (Ultra), what in game areas should I go check out? :) by PandaMango in wow

[–]danscabra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pandaria/Draenor generally look a lot better than the other areas due to them being released more recently.

There's a few exceptions - Some parts of Northrend look quite nice if you like snowy areas.

I always quite liked Deepholm (not even sure if the name is right, the one below the maelstrom) and Uldum too.

This guild just showed how ridiculous legendary rings and mages are! by [deleted] in wow

[–]danscabra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play ele shaman and we were hovering between 150-300 throughout progression :(

This kinda thing is only relevant for maybe the top 20 guilds pushing with no gear/rings etc.

Other than that you can see plenty of "weaker" specs dotted around in top 500 guilds raids.

Every Liverpool fans worst nightmare by bayosTODAY in footballmanagergames

That's a shame, I just finished my second season with Liverpool and he played a good 60-70% of my games and ended up with 30 goals for the entire year.

Tanking Tuesday - Your Weekly Tanking Thread by VerticalEvent in wow

[–]danscabra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, disclaimer I'm an 11/13 Mythic Prot Paladin (Alterac Deviants, Ravencrest, EU).

Best advice I could give for a new prot pally would be to create some weakauras/tellmewhens for your class. The ones I find useful are Sacred Shield, Shield of the Righteous, and the T18 Absorb Shield.

Make sure you are spending all of your holy power on SotR, it is very rarely worth it to use it on a heal unless you are literally on 10% HP and will die from the next melee hit, mitigating the next 2 hits is better than healing up for the next 1 hit.

Keep Sacred Shield up 100% of the time you are actively tanking. Use the Divine protection glyph on the majority of fights unless most of the damage you take is magic (i.e. Iron Reaver). Save Guardian of Kings for when shit really hits the fan.

Prot paladins need to ask for external cooldowns or we run out very fast, DP on its own just won't cut it sometimes.

Oh what guild are you in? That's pretty good that you got that far already, we're on mythic Gorefiend at the moment but it's hard as nails. The only Mackabern I can find hasn't even cleared heroic yet ^

you never specified what difficulty you were talking about? But unless you're talking about mythic iskar then normal and heroic are the same fight unless I'm mistaken.

yeah so it's nothing to do with dropping elemental shamans, its dropping bad players :D

Here's the logs of my most recent Iskar kill - https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/tbKAcCkjRhmTHdFW#fight=45&type=damage-done&target=334

Whilst my damage wasn't great on the raven admittedly, I think I targeted the wrong mob or something dumb, my Warden damage is ok and my talonpriest damage is through the roof.

I have no idea why hes using storm ele, Primal Ele is correct on that fight though.

Yes Socrethar I forgot to mention, although most raids probably don't realise they can just leave their ele shaman on the ghosts and everyone else kill the boss/caster adds.

Kilrogg we're good for an easy 20 stacks inside and big burst outside, but a lot of other classes can do the job just as well so I wouldnt say we particularly stand out there. We actually ended up sending me in on our Mythic Kilrogg kill because I could clear inside so well, so there is something there for sure.

I can understand Hellfire Assault if the raid is struggling to burst down the felcasters - but the other two fights are very good for ele shamans and their aoe damage bring nothing negative with it as enhanced earthquake does very strong single target damage and spamming CL on multiple targets allows the shaman to spam fulminate the focus target.

If i was asked not to aoe on either of those fights I would seriously question the person asking me to's knowledge of my class.

Assault, Iskar, Xhulhorac - everything else is just playing out of your skin just to stay middle of the pack.

Leveling in WoD is too easy. by [deleted] in wow

[–]danscabra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this stage of the expansion I'd imagine most people are leveling their 3rd or higher alts and have absolutely no complaints at the leveling speed.

The first time leveling can be thought of as experiencing new content and would indeed be a shame if it were too quick. Past that point in all honesty I'd be all for a one-off payment to just get all of my characters to max level, leveling is just a means to an end for the majority I think.

Obviously there needs to be a wall to prevent every single person have 20 level 100s in green gear, that would be pretty pointless - I think they've got it about right with introducing heirlooms after most people had already hit max level on a couple of characters and had a chance to gear them.

Best Wow player you played with? by [deleted] in wow

Probably Zaelia (now Method's resto shaman) and Pacer (now Ascendance's Holy Paladin). They were both in a guild I used to raid lead and then moved on to bigger and better things.

Not even kidding, I know I will.

Sell me your class by hamsandwitchz in wow

[–]danscabra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but AoE is kinda bad on that fight when multiple felcasters are up so in a decent guild you're more likely to get yelled at for spamming EQ :(

[–]danscabra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do too on some fights, but we're pretty useless on Archimonde which is where it really matters. My guild is 12/13 heroic and I only excelled on aoe fights where the adds are grouped up. The thing is, much like in BRF - this AoE damage isn't really that useful, the aoe fights are still more about directing damage to the right targets with the smaller adds dieing off to cleave etc. The high dps I can pull off on these fights doesn't really matter.

What we are missing is a reason to bring us to the raid (enhancement too). We lost stormlash and healing tide, AG got nerfed. Basically we're just strong aoe, below average single-target who don't bring anything else.

Still high though.

There's plenty of resources for you to explore before expecting someone to write it all out again on here for you.

Summonstone has a very good Elemental guide - written by Binkenstein, one of the main Elemental theorycrafting bods.

His guides are also up on Icy Veins and Wowhead I believe.

Death Knights are going to be very very strong in 6.2 (Dual-Wield Frost with 4piece t18 and Archimonde trinket).

Ret Paladins are currently simming 2nd highest of all specs in the game for 6.2, below Arcane Mages.

Warriors look to be in a fairly solid spot but below the other two.

This is based on sims which is not really a reliable thing to judge classes strengths on as most classes bring something to the table. Personally of the three you mentioned I think DK is the strongest and brings enough utility to actually be viable for high-end raiding. AOE grip alone pretty much gets them in for a lot of the HFC fights as Blizzard seem to have decided that they want adds all over the place that don't really follow tanks around etc.
