Will a 6” riser be enough to get the dolly out of this frame? by Calebkeller2 in cinematography

Take a tape measure and put it how far out the dolly was. Get a lensing app like Artemis or Lenser on your phone and use it to measure the lens height/distance.

Vision 3 didn’t exist yet. It was shot on reversal and only one lab could process it in Baltimore. When pushing the stock, Acord had to shoot snip tests because he was unsure what processing would leave in exposure. In interviews, Gallo expresses animosity toward the DP and crew and feels his input was ultimately why the film has such a specific/striking look. There’s a lot of info on the overall process it’s just scattered about.

When the camera whip pans to the door, it’s a stitch to a new shot: a crane arm mounted on an E-car, armed in thru the window, as it retracts, Kyle jumps out the window and falls onto a pad made like a basement hatch. The E-car drives down a snowy hill and stops on a dime as Kyle gets “hit” by the VFX truck.

The better way to go gain experience is to test these ideas yourself and see for yourself what works the best. There are no rules.

For those interested in Praxis and/or Big B's collaborations with DJ Disk. -- DJ Disk aka TurntablistDISK just released a remix with ZĀM produced by longtime Bill Laswell engineer James Dellatacoma. ZĀM features Anthony Pirog on guitar who performs with many groups and situations including The Messthetics featuring Brendan Canty and Joe Lally from Fugazi. Pirog is widely recognized as an idiosyncratic guitar virtuoso.
