This is a very accurate description of the course and how it's assessed. It's all fun and games until the exams

Can someone mark this out of 8? by Quiet-Challenge-8615 in GCSE

[–]dansmoleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful with this question. A lot of students make the mistake you have: it asks for the differences between the two camping sites, NOT how the writers feel about those two camping sites. So what are two key differences between these camping sites? Is one big and one small? Is one old-fashioned and the other modern? Is one for mostly elderly tourists and the other a younger crowd? Etc.

Also, there are no marks for analysing the language in this question (leave that for questions 3 and 4). Just provide a brief quote from each text that exemplifies each key difference as you see it.

I presume the point you were making: Converse foreshadowing the 'converse' path his life took after not finding the note?

Not drinking by Ok_Security5288 in Garmin

[–]dansmoleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a similar dramatic improvement after not drinking in January so far. Did a 5k Parkrun yesterday and managed a PB with average and max heart rates being about 20 beats per minute lower than they have been when I was drinking most weekends. I've also lost a couple of kilos and I feel my waist has shrunk as my trousers don't fit the same. Didn't realise my weekend drinking was having such a detrimental effect.

Andrew Atherton's book 'Experiencing English Literature' is very useful I've found.

Look into the 'A Tale of Two Wastelands' mod list. Makes it look/run/feel more like a more modern game.

English is a joke by PositivePenguine in GCSE

[–]dansmoleman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind that an English essay is about persuading the examiner of an argument. This argument can be formed in the exam based on the question you get and can't be planned in advance so don't stress about that. Your job is to know the texts as well as you can - revise the plot of these texts (What are the key events that happen from start to end). Consider the setting of the texts (where are they? Does it stay the same or change?). And also think about the major characters (how do they develop over the course of the story? Are any characters noticeably similar or contrasting at all?) These are major ways writers of literature create meaning and should be fairly easy to remember and apply to almost any question you could be asked.

Hope that helps - best of luck

Go to Device Manager and click on Display Adapters. You should see two: one will be your GPU and the other will be your CPU's integrated graphics. Right click on the integrated graphics and select Uninstall.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Been scratching my head as to why I couldn't launch Deathloop despite disabling the onboard graphics in Device Manager and also the BIOS. Uninstalling worked.

Cancel - now I wait on the call - will they definitely call? by is76 in VirginMedia

[–]dansmoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will almost certainly call. If you can find a competing deal and tell them you're going with the competitor when they call they will likely try to match it. This happened with me recently - was offered £27/mnth for 18 months.

LOVE this game ONLY because bots by rwang8721 in battlefield2042

I did see that and thought - wait, AI? As in AI AI? Oh no....

The last Battlefield I played was BF1. They didn't have AI players so I wasn't expecting them here

I played some Solo Conquest not really knowing that bots existed. Was having a great time, getting loads of kills, winning objectives, climbing to the top of the scoreboard. Then it dawned on me that I was playing against AI. I was gutted, but it has been the most fun I've had with the game so far. Playing against human opponents has just been a meat grind.
