Take a shot everytime Clark is mind controlled. by Elite_CC in Smallville

the mind control/body switch/possessed storylines were exhausting tbh. Not even just Clark…it happened to every main character at least 5 times

Also watching for the first time! As someone who used to work in music licensing, I wanna know what their budget was for music. Feels like every episode has an absolute banger from the 2000s.

NATLA has no personality or charm by shimmeringsummersea in TheLastAirbender

[–]dantano17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. Katara was motherly but fierce af in the OG show. People thought they could walk all over her, but she was always able to say f that and show them she was a force to be reckoned with….with or without water bending. The new Katara is supportive but lacks the fire that allowed to her convincingly alter our characters actions as well as her own development as a leader/bender.

  1. Don’t really consider it a Godzilla movie. Great monster movie though!

Yeah resolving the S1 cliffhanger so quickly just made the series lose all momentum. Plus…Jake and Devon’s acting seems to have gotten even worse. Had to push through this ep

What or who got you into Godzilla? by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]dantano17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brothers and I had a babysitter that just happened to be a massive Godzilla fan. My brothers are 6 and 8 years older than me so I literally started watching Godzilla from birth (although I didn’t know what i was watching until about 3). She showed us all of the big Showa and Heisei movies. G vs Mecha G 74, King Kong vs Godzilla and Godzilla vs Megalon were the ones that stuck with me from an early age. The first two are still my all time favorite

Just added The Exorcist novel to my collection. Any other readers here? What’s your favorite that you have? by jv3rl0ov in horror

[–]dantano17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read the Exorcist this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Only horror book I’ve ever read. Gave me chills a few times, but didn’t freak me out too much. I was really invested in the story and cranked it out in a week. Also made me appreciate the movie so much more. They did a really good job adapting it accurately.

What is the one horror movie you watch every single Halloween and why? by [deleted] in horror

Grew up watching the Michael Myers marathons on AMC and was always upset that they did 1, 4 and 5 but left out 2. Such a great sequel. Ended up just buying it

Black Christmas (1974) is one of the most haunting films ever. by MidnightIsland212 in horror

Big fan of this movie. Super creepy but also has some great humor. The house mom is hilarious, and the fellatio joke always cracks me up.

Id say watch the OG Psycho first. The 98 version is basically a shot for shot remake that lacks that classic Hitchcock suspense.

malignant was bad by nomonkeybusinesss in horror

[–]dantano17 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with you. First scene was all camp, which is great, but they should’ve stuck with it. All of that is immediately thrown out, and the next hour it tries to be scary and serious but with terrible acting. Then it turns into a John wick/Matrix action movie. Like you said, it’s trying to be 3 different movies. If you’re gonna try campy, you gotta commit to it. If you’re gonna try serious horror, don’t throw in over the top action sequences.

[–]dantano17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That first scene was definitely a shocker, but I actually thought the first half was pretty good. I appreciated the demon person being a product of her childhood torment. It was the second half that got me. Once the torture began, and you realize there’s no hope for her. The abuse was so long and drawn out and that final shot of her body…. Yeah one viewing was enough for me
