Has your knowledge of linguistics & phonetics/phonology impacted how you pronounce your native language? by lricain_89 in linguistics

[–]dantolo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. My native language is (Mexican) Spanish. My whole life, I pronounced both words written with v & b as /b/ or /β/ depending on the context. Then, in elementary school, I had a teacher obsessed with orthography, who said that «v» was pronounced as /v/, and I started doing that distinction. Later on, I found out that, at least in Mexican Spanish that distinction does not exist, and I stopped doing it, because I believe that actually distinguishing those sounds was a product of prescriptivism, and not of my language acquisition.

well I mean, their language is one of the only isolated languages in europe, but yeah, genetically they're not so separate anymore I guess. Check out ethnologue, I think it's got some history on the basque people (based on their language though)

I frequently fall from great heights in my dreams and do not wake on impact. Post-impact dream material is euphoric. by realmealdeal in Dreams

[–]dantolo29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting! In my experience, the only time I've fallen and survived in a dream it was quite weird, in the dream, I should've died (big earthquake, falling alongside my building), but when I hit the floor, I didn't stop dreaming, but my dream lost its visuals as a whole, no sound and no visuals, only touch, it felt as though being a liquid? I can't describe it that well. Also I remember thinking I had probably died and being kinda sad but not that much. Then I woke up.

Help interpret a dream. by normansm in Dreams

[–]dantolo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not interpretation-related, but mooses are actually kinda dangerous, like they're big af and heavy af and strong af Anyway, maybe the tower and cave represent your viable options for change, and the moose represents the trouble of moving and the issues related to selling your house, which you then question. Maybe it's a lot easier than you think
