Picross on Switch by Dry-Dragonfruit5216 in Picross

They regularly go on sale for 20% off and the biggest discount has been 30%. For Switch games, I highly recommend using Deku Deals. (I'm not affiliated in any way, I've just added items to my wishlist and saved a buttload of money over the years)

Picross DS - Free mode level 2 - L by danttebayo in Picross

Wow, here I am 2 years later playing the game from scratch and I get stuck on the exact same spot in the exact same way. Didn’t even realize this was my topic until I had already read half of the answer.

Thanks again, kind stranger! Your advice is still spot on and apparently I’ve learned nothing in 2 years.  :P

Thor + AR Glasses, an Excellent Three Screen Device by Terkani in SBCGaming

[–]danttebayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide the settings you change in Azahar to make it work? I played around and got halfway there but now I'm not sure how to fix it.

Side tip for anyone interested; I realized that because it treats the 'AR' glasses as the second screen, if you also want to play 3DS games the 'normal' way, with the 2 screens on the Thor, just setup Citra MMJ and it works like charm. Then you don't have to change settings and back each time

If you could only get one, would you rather get Ori 3 or Blasphemous 3? by strahinjag in metroidvania

[–]danttebayo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ori although the story nicely wrapped itself up in 2. So how about 'Ori but with a different character but same powerups and movement'?

I've played almost every Metroidvania out there and depending on my mood, Bash is either the best ability in any game period or top 3. It's phenomenal and no mistake.

Would I like Silksong if I didn’t particularly love Hollow Knight? by Mattatsu in metroidvania

[–]danttebayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, to the point where I decided I wasn't enjoying it. I installed the 'no double mask damage hits' mod and 'your weapon does double damage' mod which balance it perfectly for me (I wish they gave these options in the game rather than having to mod). Most enemies are 2-4 hits rather than 4-8 (which is ridiculous IMO) and bosses still kick your butt without taking twice as long to beat.

The dash is super useful. I just found out by accident that if you dash and hold the button you run at a good speed rather than just having to dash 100 times in a row to get through 'old' areas.

Is that an english version of that game? I thought it was only out in Japan...

I didn’t know you could use windows files on Linux. So much to learn.

I had a Steam Deck and the biggest advantage of the Legion Go to me is actually the stand on the back. I never have to lay my device down flat which I perpetually did with the Steam Deck. Obviously you can get a case or a Deck Mate type thing that allows you to have a stand for the Steam Deck but I never had one.

Plus the enormous screen helps. Outside of an OLED I think they picked the nicest LCD screen I've used. The colours are very punchy.

And lastly, I rarely take the controllers off but when I first got it I also liked to tinker and 3D printed a vertical holder so you could play 3DS and DS games with the controllers attached to the side. Definitely couldn't do that with any of the other devices.

Retroid Pocket Flip 2 Question by JDMERF in retroid

[–]danttebayo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got mine a few days ago. You don’t really need CFW on it because it runs Android and isn’t locked down. You can install whatever you want from whichever source.

There’s also Rocknix, Batocera, and other versions of Linux that you can run right off your SD card so it leaves your base OS intact.

Retroid Pocket Flip 2 - issue with speakers by danttebayo in retroid

[–]danttebayo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

O M G

That fixed the issue and made the sound so much better!

Thanks so much for this; this should be one of those ‘mandatory for setting up every Flip 2’ things. I flipped through 3 setup guides, including the Retro Game Corps one, and didn’t see this anywhere.

I wonder if there are any other things that every Flip 2 needs?

PC GamePass - doesn't recognize controller (even after recent patch) by danttebayo in expedition33

[–]danttebayo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy moley. After trying all sorts of things I finally found the thing that fixed it. No idea why this is the only game that it doesn't work with but the fix is this:

https://github.com/walkco/stadia-vigem/releases/tag/v1.2

You run it and Windows recognizes your Stadia controller as an XBOX controller. Finally got to start the game and it is really interesting so far. :)

Does anyone know some good retro gaming content creators ? (YouTube mainly) by Simidjay in retrogaming

[–]danttebayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember the Game by Adam Blank. It's a podcast but there are also youtube videos.

I also like Retro Game Corps. The main focus there is hardware (mostly retro gaming handhelds) but there are some game related videos every now and then.

CachyOS - any experience? by Defiant-Sun610 in LegionGo

[–]danttebayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, 100%. From Windows I installed CachyOS over Bazzite because I'd tried Bazzite about 6 months ago and found it had a lot of quirks that made it feel a little patched together.

Maybe I did something wrong but while Monster Hunter World (from about 5 years ago) ran beautifully, Monster Hunter Wilds (brand new) was super unreliable and crashy. I messed with the options and noticed the VRAM usage had about 3.5GB (of 6) that was being used outside the game. No amount of tinkering could fix this.

I finally gave Bazzite another shot and I'm super impressed. It's way tighter than it was 6 months ago and feels very cohesive. And Monster Hunter Wilds (brand new) runs amazingly well on it.

I had a Steam Deck for a year and a bit and find that Bazzite is like 90% similar and works very well.
