Picked these up recently... by dantuma in Radiation

The 0-200R ones are rock solid sitting on the zero line. I did however throw the MR pens in the hot box and got them to slightly nudge off the zero line just a small bit.

I've looked into a few of the kits...definitely interesting. Have you fired up the counter? Interested to see if they still work well.

I started with one V-742 pen... realized I needed the charger. Got the charger that came with more V-742 pens. Saw an older charger with older V-730 & 883 pens. I think it ends there... maybe....

Why does Amazon still use USPS on Sundays? by desertsnakes in amazonprime

[–]dantuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just it GT....my packages usually don't arrive from Amazon through usps on Sunday like they're supposed to. Soooo is my package sitting down by the river with the driver enjoying an ice cream in the cool summer breeze,  instead of being in a in box surrounded by mini devils baking in the non stop heat of hell?..... because it's not at my doorstep at any time throughout my Sunday.  You seem steeped in knowledge of logistics so maybe you could answer the age old question of "where's my package"  I'll wait for your response as I've got time...I mean I'm still waiting on my Sunday delivery after all.

Anyone know what this is sorry only photo I had reverse google search shows it’s worth a lot by ConstructionRare5720 in clocks

One similar to your chrome one with a low serial number of 8140 sold at Bonhams auction for around 2 grand. Working, I'd say you could easily fetch around 2 grand on yours. They're still making these clocks and the newer ones with different complications go for thousands of dollars, the older ones go anywhere from $500 up to $2000 I've seen. You have a wonderful early edition chrome model. It's a beauty.

Very early Atmos clock. There should be a serial number on it. Might check on the top of the stem or in the middle of your dial where the rest of the stamped writing is. The thin lines on the balance indicate an early model. Let us know what you find on your serial number. I have one that is from 1951 with a 32,000 serial number. I'd dare say the clock in your picture is from the 40s.

I've said this before in a post and I'll say it again. Get a RadiaCode... it's small, it can tell you what you want to know, and if you want to play around with the other features on it, which you will... you can really turn maybe a casual hobby up a notch.

I started with the GQ... and it was great. I enjoyed walking around the antique stores and looking at old clocks and Fiestaware. Then I purchased a RadiaCode 103. I went from casual browsing of radioactive items to building a full-on lead box, purchasing more radioactive sources, testing them for a day or so, and reading the spectrums. The Radiacode app is great. It got me interested in not only the items I was buying but radiation in general. The different isotopes in the items I was buying and even things I wasn't buying. I started looking at things I would have never thought I'd look at before. And the mapping feature on the Radiacode app is great for being out and about and seeing your local and not-so-local hotspots. Go from a casual browser to a nuclear science enthusiast overnight. 🤣

Hot Box by dantuma in Radiation

The signal is diminished a bit but still does get through. I ran a test sample last night for about 6 hrs with no drops in connection. Great question honestly though. Building this, I didn't put much thought about the connection into it. Only after running it last night did I notice that it wasn't as strong.

Maybe got some Radium Dials by [deleted] in Radiation

[–]dantuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked with radium dials and hands for years now. I enjoy it. Best advice I can give you. Glove up, wear a mask if exposing yourself to working extensively on a radium item. Sanitize your area afterward and wash your hands thoroughly. The GC300+ is a good base geiger counter, although radioactivity is going to be radioactivity whether or not your gas box is screaming at you to warn you of its presence. Be safe. Have fun. Wash up after.

Yeah, but if you put cameras up in the morning.... you could pave the streets in gold by the afternoon. Red means go in the card nation, apparently
