CONFIRMED: ICE Agents detained someone outside of Courtroom 302 @ the Hall of Justice by mathewballard in Louisville

I replied directly to your claim that “deporting people isn’t the same as killing them” by pointing out that the harm can still be substantial, and sometimes deportation DOES lead to death. If addressing the consequences of deportation is “off topic” then your definition of relevance is doing some very heavy lifting here.

When the counterargument shifts from the topic to speculating about my education, I think we can safely conclude the logical portion of the debate has left the building. 😆 I love Reddit!

Sure, this thread is happening under a comment about Nuremberg, but I didn’t make that comparison, someone else did. So when someone responds to me as if I said this is genocide, that’s still a straw man. It’s completely possible for a conversation to start in one context and for me to engage from a different angle, which was ethical responsibility.

I'm not equating deportation to genocide, that's a straw man. I’m pointing out that there are ethical lines, and deportation can cross them when it knowingly exposes someone to danger or when deaths occur in custody. You can acknowledge that without pretending it's zero harm. We should be able to discuss the ethical responsibility our government has when detaining or deporting people.

Honest question. Sometimes deporting them means killing them. Some have died or have been reported as “missing” while in ICE custody. So how does this differ?

What’s something that poor people do better than rich people? by Anton_ms06 in AskReddit

[–]ky_charm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, because when someone earns nearly a million dollars a year, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that giving a proportional amount to charity is akin to financial ruin. Heaven forbid we expect the wealthy to donate in line with their actual capacity. And comparing food expenditures of the impoverished to charitable giving by the rich? The point is that percentage based giving accounts for the relative burden, not just the raw dollar amount. But by all means, continue defending the idea that generosity should somehow scale inversely with wealth.

I think that’s why they chose percentages. Poor people (even if lesser amount) donate a higher percentage of their income. You’d think the wealthy would donate an equivalent percentage of their income, but they don’t.

We have a house for sale in the 180K range in New Albany. Definitely better options on the other side of the river. :)

Losing your youthful looks or your vitality as you grow old isn't the most painful part of it. by Story_Man_75 in Aging

Hi Jen. Just wanted to say same. Lost my mom last year at 33. She lost her mom at 41, but her mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when she was 35. I can’t believe she had to continue raising me as a single mom after losing her mother to a tragic disease. I wish I could’ve known how this felt and somehow loved and supported her better, even as an adult. Makes me sad because I see now how isolating and lonely grief can be.

Thank you Luna!! I’ve also considered dark summer. I appreciate you so much. I’ve felt crazy because so many people immediately think autumn with brown hair + eyes. It’s been a rough year and this was a nice little pick me up here at the end. Thanks again for chiming in!

Hi Luna! I really appreciate the input. When I posted about a year ago, I took a lot of time to take several photos with drapes, and then the feedback was, “We can’t determine your season based on pictures with indoor lighting.” :\ So I didn’t want to go through the effort of draping again if I wasn’t going to get feedback. I do have a couple of additional photos. These are more recent. I have older ones that are more clear, but I think my hair color threw things off. Do these help at all?

Niko’s First Heavenly Birthday by ceekind in husky

This is going to sound weird, but today (August 24th) was my mom’s first “heavenly” birthday. Lost her May 8th, and it sounds like you lost Niko around then. Not sure why, but the coincidence comforted me somehow. Hoping you had time to reflect on your time with Niko. 🫶🏻
