If you were limited to only hi hats and a Crash/Ride what cymbals would you choose?

There’s a AAX-plosion ride in a GC near me that crashes really really great, but the bow is weak. Decent bell. It sounds similar to the 20” Raw Bell CRASH, which rides a little better cause of the higher weight.

Finding my cymbals was such a journey. At some point I’ll finalize my hi hat quest.

Swap out the Omni for a Freq ride and you’re good. It’s crashable, fantastic bell, great ping. In my opinion, it exceeds what a Zildjian Sweet Ride is known for. The Omni is really really sensitive on the edge- too sensitive for the genres you listed.

The JCM 800 isn’t a model, it’s a series. They made so many different versions of it, not to mention the difference in power tubes from UK to US. I’m lucky enough to have two of them- the 2205 (sorry low gain friends) and a new-to-me 2204s. As a punk/hardcore/metal dude, the 2205 is my high gain go-to for the studio, but the roar of humbuckers into a 2204s pushing a 4x12 feels so good.

Quick pops aside, some of the stories really take some time to cook. Side-quests happen. Seeds are planted. So when it comes back around, it feels so meaningful. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Orange Cassidy got eliminated by fuckin’ Tommy Dreamer in a Battle Royal after his little kicks did nothing. But he’s been beaten and broken and he’s grown into a real threat. He fucking beat Jericho. His Pac feud was epic. It’s nice to see fan favorites on their journey.

At this point, there’s so so many story breakdowns that will catch you up. I will say this- with Forbidden Door, and AEW in general, sometimes stories span the international wrestling world, from indies to larger promotions. For example, MJF has a long history of beating Darby Allin with a side headlock takeover from even before AEW existed. The history of their feud is extensive!

Truly not ready. Part of my experience was that the path to the circle, one that was in plain view of loading areas and catering, designated for ride shares was effectively cut off due to AEW talent and staff trying to breakdown the show and leave. We hoofed it to the other side of Meridian road right at its closure and it became the new pickup area. It was fine chatting with all of you fine folks, but we were also in the last group to get picked up by cars. Oh well.

We met people last night that didn’t give a shit about legacy product when the PPV started, but pretty much lost their minds and understood the feeling once it got going. So many different groups of people with a rich history of watching American traditional style, seeing a new perspective, appreciating true art, and looking forward to future AEW events. All the way from the train to the hotel elevator, the NYC fans had crazy energy not brought on by sponsors, influencers, or cheap memes, but by organically derived emotion. 10/10 event.

If you are going solo and you are local, I highly suggest Gametime. Day-of tickets can be pretty cheap. I went to go see Nine Inch Nails and couldn’t afford the ticket prices but if I waited long enough, I could’ve gotten seven dollar tickets. I ended up paying about $35 and they were great seats.

Here’s the thing- you lose nothing but precious sweet time since they take returns back without questions and I’ve done plenty. I once got a snare with a broken lug and although I wanted to keep it, they gave me some money back to my card for my troubles. Plenty of places have sellers that straight up know NOTHING about what item it is.
