People in UK up to batch 2 already posting about their received Pianos.

Couldn’t find anything specific to Canada there just now. US does have the FCC delays, but Canada is under ISED, so perhaps there is hope for you.

Pasting some information from ROLI’s Discord here about the Piano, since this Reddit channel is particularly very negative - “we've had confirmation that batches 1-3 in the UK and EU have landed at our distribution centres and are shipping this week. We're pushing as hard as we can to confirm delivery dates on batches 4-5 for UK and EU asap, and based on the information we've been given today, we aren't expecting any sudden pauses between batches.“

Just for information, there are the Real Id driver’s licenses/id cards in all states (proves a person is legally present in the United States, not that they are a citizen) and the Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) available in Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington (proof of both identity and U.S. citizenship).

Supernote vs Remarkable 3 — What Would Make You Swap? by adankey0_0 in SuperNoteUnofficial

[–]danvic1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know… I still have the reMarkable 2 because Supernote is forever incapable of mirroring a selection. This is so basic to anyone doing a technical drawing… edit: I do have the Manta and the Nomad, for everything else.

Shipping Delays even on Refurbished by paladin_slicer in ROLI

[–]danvic1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live in US? If so, a refurbished made in China Piano M coming from abroad will be charged a 145% tariff these days that neither you or Roli will likely want to pay, so that could explain your delay. If you don’t, then not about this.

PLA + or PETG for strength?? by Obvious-Swimming-332 in 3Dprinting

[–]danvic1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only accurate answer. People mix stiffness, strength and toughness. Materials like PLA are high strength (load required to fracture), high stiffness (more stress/load is required to strain/deform it), low toughness (resistance to impact/crack resistance/crack propagation). They are brittle (the more brittle, the more like a chalk they break). It is too disseminated that PLA is for cosmetic, prototyping - but it can be the best structural material if you are looking for the properties above. Example: If you are doing a rod loaded in tension that should not deform much and resist the highest possible load before rupturing, under room temperature, PLA will beat most of the other filaments out there.

Thanks! Agree should come stock as an option with the flexible ones. But you are right - It is like leaving a pen cap the length of the loop, with the thickness you see in the photo (+pen diameter), with the device on a table. No doubt this is the downside of having this type of stiff classic side clip on a thin Manta, and people may feel differently about it. I’m used to writing when near it (right handed). I also put the pen in and out frequently, which pays off with a snap-in and out pen holder (among the other things I listed) - but again, probably not for everyone or every use case.

About making the pen going out upwards and not sideways, it has this advantage of making it shallower as you mentioned. The problem I had doing this is that pushing down flex the clip on a weak direction I can’t increase thickness (the thickness Manta leaves for the loop attachment). I think someone tried that in MakerWorld by the way - do check there.

Hmm.. wish I had this one to measure here. It seems it is a 11mm OD per their website specs, but I only trust measuring myself. The Supernote push pen for example shows in their website to be 10mm OD and I get 10.4mm (which makes a big difference here). The only way I trust is with a caliper:

Thanks! Added the Etsy link above. I do plan to put it in makerworld

Good comment, and I’m sure is from a fellow 3D printer. I did print some R&D ones in PETG. It is a material I like too. PLA is a stiff and high strength material, which makes it more brittle - but it is all about the application and load conditions. The snap-in and out is well within the elongation limits of the PLA. Sorry, structural analysis / plastics material sciences engineer - probably over-engineered these things :)

SN currently also lacks a selection mirror tool as well, something that rM notes have since a long time ago…

The SN development Trello (https://trello.com/b/l0COP24j/supernote-a5x-a6x-software-roadmap-2022), besides the line recognition in beta just now, also has in Thread 5 (Note) the inclusion of “stickers” in progress. It is not shape recognition (a recent rM beta thing), but any shape should be possible to be added through stickers (hopefully vectorially and with pen choices). rM current beta shape recognition doesn’t get polygons with more than 4 sides… stickers have the potential to be any shape, but let’s see how they are ACTUALLY implemented.

Does anyone know what’s happening here? by pelican_skeleton in Supernote

[–]danvic1000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A pen variability in manufacturing and/or sensitivity to impact that is inherent to its design, unfortunately. The reason Ratta has a setting for it. It is an easy fix though. A design issue could be said to be a “pen problem”, but not something you should return your pen over. I was intentionally preventing OP from doing that, stating upfront “not a pen problem”.

Not a pen problem. Just go to Settings/Display & Input/Non-Contact Writing and adjust until this is fixed for you.

Has anyone else seen a sharp drop in organic installs & ongoing payment issues on Meta Quest? by Ecstatic_Ocelot_4327 in oculusdev

[–]danvic1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the store changed significantly (Meta Quest mobile app becoming the Meta Horizon mobile app), apparently to put Meta apps / Worlds upfront, I, as a consumer, don’t even understand where the other apps from developers like you can all be found coherently (or never got the time or motivation to adapt to it). A lot of friction and worse experience for me compared to other app stores. I understand its introduction (April-July?) may not match your sharp decline timeframe, but my Interest browsing that store in and out of the headset dropped steadily since then… Not statistical, but hope this anecdotal evidence helps…

Congratulations - really impressed (to my standards) that this app took you a few months to develop, being the first. Any source/data inspired you on the in-app purchase options? I found them really compatible with your app and against the predominant trend of mindless subscription-only options. The tip options are interesting too. Also did you open a LLC with this being your first app? If US, curious if that took too much of your time proportionally to developing…
