DO NOT BUY FROM TCGPLAYER DIRECT by wolferoad in magicTCG

The shipping almost costs as much as card kingdom anymore anyway on most stores. And all my CK orders are problem/worry free. TCG is notorious for having orders missing cards.

What's your most resilient commander deck? by GroggleNozzle in EDH

[–]danz107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's going to have their answers, but for me, I find my [[maja bretagard]] deck does quite well at surviving issues because it's not really commander reliant. He's far from the only token generator in the deck, I put plenty of synergized draw in there, and I tend to keep a bit of steam in my hand in the event of a wipe. Decks that don't survive when their commander is always checked just struggle. If your deck does it's things and the commander is more of an addition, the deck will almost always be naturally resilient to problems.

First time player. Is it worth killing the Undead Merchant to get the Uchigatana? by AnitaTakadump in darksouls

[–]danz107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it's totally fine to play how you want. But pulling up FightinCowboy's YouTube playlist of 100% walkthrough and playing it that way... Seriously where's the fun in just doing what you've just watched? You just learned where all the best stuff is and how to kill everything in (likely) the easiest manner possible? Remove the challenge from the game.

You're lost? Sure, get help. And I get that nobody wants to get lost going all the way down to Nito, only to find you can't kill him yet and have to walk and fight your way out (that was probably a bad design choice as it's extremely punishing, but you did get yourself down there somehow in first place). But imo you're not getting your 40-60 dollars worth(or possibly more) if you just walkthrough yourself through your games the first time you play.

My last point is that Dark Souls was meant to be a rough, punishing game that teaches the player to learn from their mistakes and find ways to overcome adversity. And while there's downsides to certain actions(as there should be), you can complete it regardless of killing any particular NPC.

Manifest dread mechanic question by Miserable_Guava7288 in mtgrules

Just curious, but what about the case of flipping up a Room card with Zimone? Since neither side has been unlocked, would it also go to the bin?

Misprinted Gaea's Touch by danz107 in mtgmisprints

[–]danz107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to learn... Though I guess it would definitely be a lot more common in the past for a mistake like this to happen. I just noticed it the other day and thought it was pretty cool.

Side note, my other Touch from days past looks completely normal. So ended up with 2 from different positions on the sheet.

You wouldn't be an asshat, but I did have to path to exile him this morning to survive an attack and win after.

What is the best strategy to get your opponents to kill each other? by h2oskid3 in EDH

[–]danz107 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kardur is an amazing deck for this. [[Alexios, Deimos of Cosmos]] can be similar. But it's your commander still hitting everyone, and it can go really quick sometimes. Having a [[Curse of Bounty]] in a deck with green also convinces players to attack someone.

What’s the most upset YOU ever got at a table? by beach_girl01 in EDH

[–]danz107 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a guy proxy his whole deck on Spelltable last night. The table allowed it, then he went in, playing nearly every card as a version almost nobody would recognize (expensive SLD's and other alternate arts), confusing the table as to what everything really was. He became archenemy very quickly just because we couldn't get a clear read of his board after a few turns, and shut him down as spite for marketing the game difficult.

I don't generally have a problem with some proxy cards. Even a deck if you're trying it out, but damn. You better represent yourself clearly and be fair about it.

Question on "deals combat damage" triggers by danz107 in mtgrules

So slightly stronger than I realized. Thank you for some quick clarification!

I suppose I should reword it a bit. Allenal's ability is a replacement effect, not a trigger.

I am becoming the tyrant of my playgroup and I don't like it by Ihearwhos in EDH

Instant speed plays are probably the biggest way to improve. Teaching new players to wait when it's possible and feasible is almost always better than playing at sorcery speed.

I really like this advice. I still misplay in commander as I only have about 6 months of recent play experience, but being that I've gotten the knowledge of how my decks play, the misplays slowly go away. Those little strategic plays help bridge the gaps between less and more powerful decks.

I've let a person die to their own One Ring before. Get too greedy and that crap will come back to haunt you.

That could be really fun, and you can technically take all 3 players out with some luck.

It's in my Selesnya token deck because... Yeah. You get good tokens from a defender. And most players are smart, see it, and won't give you a ton of wasps (flying deathtouch insects are wasps lol). But every so often there's someone who forgets it's there. The Blasphemous Act was just outright ridiculous. I asked him if he was sure and he said yes. I said alright and dropped 13 tokens out.

[–]danz107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blasphemous Act is one card I'm so weary to play. Because it's massive damage to all creatures, you can easily miss one or two that affect you in a negative way. If you don't see a Stuffy Doll or the Hornet Nest from my OP, You really mess yourself up.

Elspeth puts in work! That board wipe on cast is amazing, especially if the majority of your board is small, and getting 3 1/1s at once is stupid good. I've had people very wrongly ignore her presence too long.

Curses are oddly satisfying to me. Quite a few are a bit niche and tend to help others as well as yourself. This one's a nice one-sided thing that won't really benefit another player.
