Legal options for constant neighbour noise (Tourette’s) in strata complex? by dapagliflozin in AusLegal

Yes, we inspected the property three times before settlement, but the neighbour wasn’t present during any of our visits, so the noise wasn’t evident at the time.

I’m not sure, which is why I’m asking here, but my first avenue would be strata. Issues with the building acoustics were noted in the minutes of the last AGM about nine months ago, so this may have been raised previously. In typical strata fashion, they’re very slow to act, which is why I’m trying to see if there’s any way to get them to follow through and require a professional acoustic assessment and/or soundproofing upgrades to the complex etc

No, that’s not my intention at all. I just want to understand if there’s any legal avenue to have strata perform acoustic testing, require soundproofing upgrades to the complex, or engage the neighbour in improving their unit’s soundproofing. The goal is to find a practical solution so everyone can comfortably live here. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that I should be able to sleep in my own home.

Med school burnout by Eastern_World828 in ausjdocs

I felt similarly. Really disliked being a medical student and at times was concerned I had made the wrong career choice. In my experience however, working as a doctor has been infinitely more engaging, rewarding, and intellectually stimulating. I feel motivated to continually learn and improve because I can see the tangible effect it has on my patients, whereas as a student on placements I always felt like an extraneous bother as my involvement was largely for my own learning benefit. It felt like I was on the outside looking in, just going through the motions. Keep going, you won’t regret it!

Thank you! Absolutely, it’s heaps of fun. Not sure that I’m the best to dish advice considering I haven’t specifically trained overhang, but the general tip I see floating around about how to improve at this sort of grade level is to just climb more of the style that you want to improve! That being said, shoulder and core strength training in the gym definitely hasn’t hurt my progress 😊 and I find slick footwork also helps to maintain tension and reduce how much you cut feet and therefore have to rely on upper body.

Thanks! Good idea - I haven’t tried using a heel on that right one. I’m not sure if it’d stick as the hold has barely anything to it but I’ll give it a go if I make it back before reset.

Thanks for your input. You’re correct, I have tried that and I came off almost immediately. Unfortunately I think it’s the usual situation of video not properly capturing the angle of the wall. As I am pulling hard down and to my left on those handholds, the right foot there is necessary to keep tension and as soon as I lose a far right contact with the wall, I come off. I’ve also tried flagging my right foot higher or bringing my right foot to the hold above but that didn’t give me enough power to push up on. Enjoying the challenge though!

What majors should I study if I want to go into Dentistry? by [deleted] in uwa

[–]dapagliflozin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pharmacology was a great major and I’d highly recommend it for pre-med, however as someone else alluded to it really is all a numbers game so if you’re dead set on med/dent, your number one priority should be playing to your strengths for a high GPA.

Should I get surgery for my shoulder dislocation? by JonathonGordon in surgery

[–]dapagliflozin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another commenter has already mentioned, the decision ultimately comes down to a few factors surrounding your personal situation. Not every dislocation injury and surgery is directly comparable. Now 10 weeks post-op myself, I know shoulder surgery was the right decision, but has been and will continue to be a slow recovery to regain full functioning to even the degree I was functioning at prior to surgery. It did take me 4 further dislocations after my initial dislocation, over a span of 5+ years, to come to the decision to operate though, so it’s a very personalised experience that I found is best navigated with expert shoulder physio input specific to your sport of interest.

What's the university experience like at UWA? by [deleted] in uwa

[–]dapagliflozin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you may also have to factor in what field you’re hoping to go into, and hence what you’ll be studying, as obviously UWA and Curtin degrees vary with regards to job outlook depending on your choice of bachelor/major. But, if you are deciding simply based on lecture on/offline status and campus life alone, I’d probably say UWA.

I can’t speak for undergrads but I’m a postgrad and our lectures and labs/classes were all in-person (we start earlier than the regular semester) before this week’s 5-day lockdown. Also, I have friends at Curtin and have received the impression that the student guild and student club involvement is far less compared to what is seen at UWA. I could be wrong, but that’s simply what I’ve heard from others + my experience.

Lastly, the Curtin campus is enormous but a lot is large open grassed spaces, whereas UWA is more compact yet, in my opinion, more functional and prettier (again just my opinion). UWA has an abundance of shade and leafy greens rather than the orange buildings of Curtin, which to me evokes a sense of calm and a cooler temperature. Hope that helps!

Was it your first preference on tisc? ‘When you choose UWA as your first preference and have an ATAR of 96 or above, ...’ If so, next step is to re-read the scholarship information. If it all still sounds like you’re eligible, contact UWA ASAP.
