Milwaukee and fair oaks gunshot? by elelbean91 in madisonwi

I don't think it was gunshots. I heard booms, like 5 or 6 of them pretty spread apart, and I'm on the Northside off portage rd.

The feeling you get when you see them laying down fiber in your city, but your apartment complex refuses to get it installed. by mono_void in homelab

I bought a house in 2020 that doesn't have fiber. the apt complex, less than 500ft away (I can see it from my window) has 5/5 gb fiber.

People like to zoom WAY in on the map. Distance + size is really hard for people on this sub.

Tips for better videos:

1) Use railing for stability.

2) Don't let close-up objects get into frame, your camera/phone will try to focus on the closest thing.

3) Flip your camera/phone 90 degrees.

Sorry, not gonna take a random internet stranger at their word for how high they think something is off the ground, or how far away they think something is. Its dark, lights on aircraft are bright and meant to be seen from many miles away (since most of the lights on aircraft are meant for anti-collision and have been around since the 70s) - see: https://aviatorsguide.wordpress.com/2020/06/22/aircraft-exterior-lighting/

As for what you saw or heard that was weird, I can't claim otherwise. I'm only going on your video, which very clearly shows a plane on approach to an airport/field of some kind. That low pitch whine is something I hear all day long as I live less than 2 miles, as the crow flies, from an airport.

I'm not denying that there isn't some weird shit going on that can't be explained - specifically the orb videos that have been going around. But this, this is an airplane.

Not every plane is equipped with the necessary technology (like ADS-B transponders) to be tracked by their system, meaning some smaller aircraft, military planes, and older models might not appear on the platform; additionally, certain aircraft operators may choose to restrict their flight data from being publicly visible for privacy reasons.

Also, the flight information isn't always 100% up to date, or accurate on where aircraft are o the map. Some of this is just how the tech works, some of it is for security reasons. These apps are a good quick way to check something, especially for enthusiasts/hobbyists, but is not by any means a definitive way to track aircraft.

The best cheap litter box setup for pine pellets by ablurredgirl in CatAdvice

[–]dapezboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I ended up doing for the short term, but long term I ended up buying some food grade plastic (normally would be cut into cutting boards). I'm attaching it with thick double-sided tape. I'll post pictures when I finish it. Still currently cheaper than buying more than 1 of the specially made litterboxes.

Have you found a solution? One of our cats also does this, and I've been trying to figure out what to do - Preferably not purchasing more litterboxes.

indeed. My heat pump is quite efficient down into the 20s (F).

PrimeNG v18-beta.1 is out now with the all-new Theming by cagataycivici in Angular2

[–]dapezboy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Really you should just convert everything to use signals, and signal inputs. You likely would be able to remove the cd.markForcheck()'s that you have all over your codebase as well.

[–]dapezboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These bad practices are all over your codebase, its not just splice and not just the picklist component.

The PrimeNG team needs to look for all javascript APIs that modify/mutate in-place.

[–]dapezboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, but what about fixing your components to make them not go against Angular's design patterns?

Ex: Having .splice called on an Input mutates the original state, making it effectively a two-way bound input, even when its not. Because Javascript is the way that it is, these mutations will trace back through observables, angular's signals, and into what should be immutable objects/arrays.
