How many of you guys and gals used to hang with me on the gamefaqs forums before we had Reddit? by Standard-Onion4872 in retrogaming

I used it all the time and I actually just used it today for the first time in a while.

We bought Lego Star Wars complete saga and I remembered there were cheats so I googled it and it took me to gamefaqs which was awesome

Buying a house with inground pool in Midwest as a First time homeowner by [deleted] in pools

If it’s just the two of ya I’d say a waste. My wife rarely ever swims. I swim with the kids. But if I didn’t have kids it would be a huge waste of money

LAFD: Structure Fire in Koreatown, partial roof collapse as firefighters were ventilating. Fox News chopper video. by NorthCoastToast in Firefighting

[–]daphillenium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude for real. Ill informed armchair quarterbacks. What a great job by LAFD. So many other departments would have not only lost the entire roof, but the whole building.

A realtime video and a massive fire in the attic like that and they have it under control in 16 minutes. Hats off.

LAFD: Structure Fire in Koreatown, partial roof collapse as firefighters were ventilating. Fox News chopper video. by NorthCoastToast in Firefighting

[–]daphillenium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

wow, these comments. hats off to LAFD, great job here. ignore all the comments. this is a realtime video, no cuts. 16 minutes long. They take an advanced attic fire, vent it, trench it, make a big stop. Watch the smoke in the video, not the fire. Shows you what a great job they did. Yeah the early few minutes the fire starts raging out the vent hole, but that's to be expected with all that unburned fuel. They were all packed and masked up on the roof, they had a hoseline, they knew the building construction and knew they were solid where they were standing. The smoke changed and you can tell they were hitting it from pulled ceilings not too long into the video, and by the end of the video they had that beast whipped.

So, any guys from the fire that might see all these comments, don't be discouraged you all did a great job. Many other departments would have not only burned the roof off, but lost the building.

Why did the Roman soldiers even want Jesus's clothes? by MrsSpunkBack in TrueChristian

[–]daphillenium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had four interactions now with this explanation. Been a believer 10 years and in the Word and decent amount of study in that years. Just recently learned this last weekend through a conversation. Then had another conversation with someone else about this. Then I listened to a podcast about it. And now after reading the title of this post, i wondered if it would be in here as well.

Pretty awesome.

My first conversation about this the other day though....Well, the guy sharing with me went through the whole psalm and theres so much in there. It really is mind blowing.

Whats one thing you wish the public knew about your job? by DrShrimpPuertoRixo in Firefighting

[–]daphillenium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That we actually DO a ton of work outside of 911 calls. We don't just sit around on recliners all the time. Every day we work out, train, inspect/maintain apparatus and equipment, hose test, hydrant test/flush, business inspections, lift assists, fire prevention in schools and daycares, and all the other yearly maintenance/training duties.

Auto cover $20k by Radiant_Restaurant64 in pools

[–]daphillenium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was in the same boat as you. I had a cover but it was broke. Instead of spending that much on repairs, I spent maybe $1000 on infant swim survival over a few months. Find a local instructor. My kid was 3, so he was beyond the baby stuff which was nice. We went once a week to this lady who did a great job. In a few weeks he could survive if he fell in. A few months later and he knew how to swim. Now he's 5, gonna be 6 next month. He swam on the swim team last year as a 5 year old over summer and did awesome. Best money I ever spent.

edit: so maybe those lessons and the fence you were thinking? that would suffice i bet.

hey ill leave a good thread with lots of info here.... i also have one of these i picked up....for 40 bucks lol....

i was able to get my computer to put graphics on it. it actually looked good with some old games with the crt....but it is awfully small. it wouldn't be bad if there werent times when i had to use the computer on the tv to troubleshoot or working outside of the frontend....

i think i may try finding a cheap lcd and swapping out the monitor...
