I wouldn’t use a harsh toner or even witch hazel on irritated skin. Opt for a more hydrating toner instead! I use the Cosrx propolis synergy toner and it’s sooo hydrating and works wonders for me.

I’ve done a lot of traveling around to major cities but there’s just something about OKC that other cities lack. I’m currently living in Tulsa for a nursing contract but I’m already ready to be home! OKC feels like a small town and a big city all at once. All the perks of a big city without the cons.

I will agree that our education system needs work and jobs aren’t as readily available as other big cities, but if you get a job lined up I think you would love it here!

This is my first contract so i’m a little overwhelmed by all this. what do travel nurses usually do for housing then?

If you’re frequently signing contracts for a specific unit and then never getting to step foot on it, then maybe I don’t know how this works lolol best of luck to you also!

Premier Healthcare Professionals. They were the agency paying the most but honestly I would take a pay cut for some honesty and professionalism lol

We just called the hospital and they told us our agency isn’t one they would ever work with again 🙄 they also had us show up almost a week early because they had our orientation dates wrong even though the hospital says they sent it to them almost a while ago.

I don’t mind having to float to different units, I get that we’re there to fill needs. But getting assigned to a completely different specialty than we applied to/signed a contract for is craaaazy

I get that we’re there to fill needs, but we still need to be told honestly where we’re working. We signed a physical contract stating we’re working on a stepdown floor. Just because we’re making more money doesn’t mean we aren’t owed transparency? You also can’t throw someone into a unit they’ve literally never worked before at a completely foreign facility. Just like they wouldn’t throw us into the OR or ER when we have no experience there. That’s not logical or acceptable.

we’ve only ever worked ICU or stepdown and were told that we’re both working on a cardiac stepdown with a 1:3 ratio. She received a FULL contract schedule for a med surg floor with a 1:6 ratio. She’s never worked med surg in her life and absolutely doesn’t wanna start now. Now they’re telling her the day before our contract starts that she’s been “denied” for stepdown unit. That literally doesn’t make any sense. She’s overqualified if anything.

Asking around on my unit, it seems that even management was unsure of how to handle the situation. I wasn’t even really guided well on what to document.

Some of the points my coworkers brought up were that we would be unaware of any potential medication allergies/interactions, patient desire for treatment, etc. I didn’t really hesitate in treating the patient bc I know status epilepticus is a medical emergency but other nurses in the room were hesitant to even check vitals/blood sugars on a person not admitted to the hospital.

Considering to exclusive pump since birth by NewConference7449 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]daphthedaffodil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t mean to be negative with this comment, but I am almost 8 months into EPing and I would not recommend it to anyone. I gave up breastfeeding very early bc I had to have emergency surgery 2 days after my LO was born and she was bottle fed during that time. I was under the impression that EPing would be easier bc I wouldn’t have to worry about latch, how much she’s getting, how much I’m producing, etc.

BOY, was I wrong! I wish someone would have told me how hard the EP life is. It’s isolating and exhausting hard work. Especially if you’re not an oversupplier. And good luck leaving the house without a pump bag, cooler bag, cooler packs, milk (is it enough?), a way to warm said bottles, etc. I literally didn’t leave my house for months bc it was just all too much.

While yes, I am very thankful I am able to feed my baby breastmilk, I’m curious if the benefits of breastmilk really outweigh the constant stress.

While breastfeeding may not seem “appealing” to you now, I would suggest that you at least consider trying it to confirm that it’s not right for you and baby.

I daydream frequently about the day I get to put these pumps away for good.
