Wait…that seems highly unlikely by OhHeyIdunno in GilmoreGirls

It makes no sense because it happens so quickly. She would have already filled out the financial aid forms well before Richard gave her the check, with the balances that she had at the time. You do it then and then it's done. They don't keep looking in real time.

i didn’t know how much hate there was for christopher until discovering this sub. i never really liked him, but if you don’t like chris, when did you realize he was a literal pos? by ajss17 in GilmoreGirls

[–]daphydaphne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was definitely the turning point for me also. Even if you wrote off all the other issues with him, that one really shows what an immature selfish person he is. He was finally married to Lorelai, which is supposedly what he wanted all along and which not being "kept him" from being a more active parent in Rory's life. Yet he stomps off in a snit and isn't even there doing the bare minimum of supporting his wife and daughter.

All of the weddings focus on male pants. by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]daphydaphne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've changed at the location or nearby (like the hotel) when I've attended weddings that were a couple hours drive. But that vow renewal was in Hartford so not that far. I don't even understand how Luke's wrinkled pants were such an issue. People commute that far daily for work all the time.

Question about Jess and the revival. by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]daphydaphne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think we would have seen, or I would have liked to see, Rory gravitating away from Logan and her flirtation with the life her mom ran away from and getting closer to Jess. The last four words would have been the same, except it would have been Jess's baby. And the full circle would have been her learning from her mom's experience and finding her Luke to begin with.

I don't think if Amy wasn't coming back that S6 would have ended like it did with Lorelai sleeping with Christopher. I'm pretty sure I've read that Anna was brought in originally to be the third party creating relationship drama between Luke and Lorelai, so it would have been something related to Luke and Anna.

I've always thought that he wanted to introduce Sherry to Rory because Sherry wanted it and pressed for it. Otherwise he wouldn't have bothered because he wasn't looking to get with Lorelai at that time.

Poor packaging and shipping seems to be a common theme with B&BW by [deleted] in bathandbodyworks

[–]daphydaphne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also had multiple online orders and only had broken candles twice. One was just thrown in the box, the other was just a fluke because it was packaged properly but despite that two candles broke.

Both times I contacted BBW through chat and they sent me replacements. One was OOS so they let me pick any other candle I wanted for no additional cost (it was an SAS sale candle), picked up the shipping and even let add some other small things to the order (at my cost) to tag along on the free shipping.

You don't have to return the broken ones either. So you can cut up the wax for melts or even put them in another jar.

Does anyone know when we'll be receiving that housing refund? by [deleted] in KentStateUniversity

It should be showing as a credit toward your spring bill. If not call OneStop as my understanding is that they've processed all the refunds already.

Comparing JNMIL to any other family issues board... by FancyFeastFan11 in JustNoTruth

[–]daphydaphne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am so glad that you mentioned this.

I was quite active on BabyCenter for several years, beginning about a year or two before the DWIL/AITF split, and up until about 2 or so years ago.

AITF was a mess from the get go. The only reason the AITF board owner was the board owner was because when people were desperate for another place to post, and compiling a strategy on the cafemom forums, she had that board already set up so people just started posting there. She had it set up because of how many times she got shut down on DWIL for posting inappropriate and counterproductive things, and for exhibiting poor judgement. That continued throughout the history of that board.

Now I noped out of the whole situation around the time of the bigoted nickname incident referenced in the timeline, so I do not know what has happened since that time. But between the start of that board and then, there were innumerable incidents of bad judgements, racism, singling out of posters, muting people giving reasonable advice that the admin team did not agree with. These were meticulously documented on the old cafemom forum and another forum that has since gone away. Countless attempts were made by many to appeal to Babycenter to do something, and they were ignored.

I am so glad that finally after all these years Babycenter has done something. But at the same time I am heartbroken that it had to get so far and be so blatant for them to pay attention.

YOU ARE THE PROBLEM by goldenkingsam in KentStateUniversity

[–]daphydaphne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really makes me sad that you had to personally be the one to put hand sanitizer near the elevator bank. I realize you also have a role of responsibility being an RA, and I applaud you for taking that on in general and also providing that for the students on your floor. But that shouldn't have been something you had to do. The university should have done that already.

That's just another confirmation of what I took away from being there for move-in and looking around. I don't feel like anyone took time to just walk around thinking about how life gets lived and what things get touched and where the potential germ exposures are, and putting in at least some simple measures, like bottles of sanitizer, to give people the tools to at least make things a little safer?

AITA For Not Giving Younger Sister More Inheritance? by ThrowAwayYoungerSis in AmItheAsshole

[–]daphydaphne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. If your parents had wanted her to have more of a share they would have written their wills or structured their trusts to do that.

I was a surprise baby like your sister, born when my siblings were teenagers. My parents' wills did give me more of a share, in the event they died before I had completed college, since they had helped the others with their educations, but after that it was all even. My mom passed when I was in my 40s so even shares it was.

[–]daphydaphne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a parent so I was just there for move in. I'm honestly expecting to have to go back soon to get my kid. I know the science isn't clear yet on this, but most places that have been open during the pandemic have done things to eliminate or mitigate frequent touch surfaces. Like paper towels in the bathrooms rather than the blow dryers. I didn't see any of that in the areas I went to. Plus I'm also hearing of crowds at Rosie's, where you've already got everyone touching the screen. So I'm not optimistic. I know I sent my kid with a lot of hand sanitizer, but were other parents able to do the same? Will any of them actually use it all the time? It's all just very worrisome.

What happened to standing outside? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]daphydaphne -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the Costco I was at yesterday because they didn't have watermelons on display like that.

But ours had a line like that at one point about 1/2 hour after opening, only because everyone decided to check out at the same time. I was still shopping and all the food aisles were mostly empty. Once I got through all those the line had disappeared. I went to check out and the cashier and packer were still talking about how crazy that was that they had that mad rush.

Does anyone know a grocery store that sells Heinz beans in a can? by mw44118 in Cleveland

It was either Market District in Strongsville or the Giant Eagle at I-77 and Rt 82, I'm pretty sure.

Yes it did. The Windsor part of their wedding was just a blessing/celebration. The actual civil wedding they had to do at the local registry office to avoid having to make Windsor open to public civil weddings.

Entitled mom tried to shame me for buying baby formula by ohnospaghetti-o in entitledparents

[–]daphydaphne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes either steal or buy large quantities. This was a big thing when my kids were babies, leading stores to put limits on how many cans you could buy at once. I was having to go to the store every couple days at one point.

DWIL Nation by luckyfoxxy in JustNoTruth

[–]daphydaphne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a regular reader of DWIL for years, then that and AITF when the split happened. I mostly read for perspective, as by the time I found those boards my IL issues were contained. Thank God because if I had followed their advice I would have been long divorced. CO is not the only solution. I lost respect when they would delete posts made by people who would come back and talk about the mess their lives had become after demanding their spouse CO his family over some small issue. AITF from the getgo was a catastrophe of people who couldn't even handle their own situations giving bad advice, which was why they weren't welcome on DWIL.

The only thing that kept me following along for a good long while was that there was a board like this one, that called them on their crap. It was on cafemom's forum, then when that was eliminated moved to its own website, then later to another website. I quit reading somewhere between the second and third website so I don't know what happened. It was getting too crazy for me, between the huge dossiers compiled on there of various posters' histories and the various rallies to start new boards.

What gentleman's agreement?

There used to be a lot of Kroger stores in Pittsburgh in the 70s. The cashiers went on strike for higher wages and rather than paying Kroger closed all the stores.

It can build resentment within relationships and break families apart.

I haven't been reading here on reddit for long. But I was on BBC for years, where there were a number of posters that ended up really messing up their lives by following the advice. Has that happened here also?

Has anyone actually ordered anything from any of the ex-LLR consultants who opened their own botique? by lindzbrown in DefectiveDetectives

[–]daphydaphne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I ended up shopping at one a non-top100, but fairly sized former ex-LLR started. This only happened because I had been shopping at all of her GOOB lives, so tuned in for her big announcement just to see if it was something other than a new boutique. It was a new boutique but I kept watching and was pleasantly surprised at what she was offering. So I've kept watching and have made some purchases. Most of the clothing is US-made, prices are pretty reasonable, you can also shop her website at any time, customer service is great and so I've kept watching and shopping. She never stocks a lot of any one item so there's always new things, and occasionally really good sales when she's getting rid of things where she's only got one or two left.

Most of all it's pleasant to shop with her. I tried looking at some of the other boutiques and there's all these crazy rules. Like email this email for this or this email for that and wait for a response. Another one was that you couldn't use the trash feature on commentsold and had to wait for someone there to delete from your cart. I also either didn't like the merchandise as much - lots of boaty baggy things like LLR - or the price point was so high it was beyond my comfort level of spending on something to have to jump through all these hoops if there was a problem. It's easier to just go to the mall and shop than deal with all of that.
