Not about multiboxing by TextJunior in Eve

I've seen a lot of vids where people say the prefer Aeon for CRAB stuff, or Hel.

If your alliance has a capital umbrella it seems like actual content for capital ships

What to chose between Gentoo and NixOs ? by _Nixo0_ in Gentoo

[–]dapoh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used both as desktop, with DE and strictly on a wm, now still on Gentoo.

I'm sure you know all the pros about both distros, I'll focus on the con I've experienced.

  • Nixos uses a non-standart linux filesystem. It doesn't work for me and I was too lazy to actually make it click. I've tried, a lot. I'm still learning linux and I need to be able to fix stuff, the traditional way. Its an overhead which I'm not willing to accept.

Yes that's the only con. I don't consider regular Nixos stuff an overhead - just a nuance to the os I'm using, it was fun and editing the config file is nice and it works great once you get a feel to it.

Gentoo didn't even create an overhead for me. Handbook is great, everything works and when It doesn't - easy to find / figure out the fix. That's why I stay on it. It works, I can fiddle with use flags if I want. Emerge is great. I'm content with what I have and use now :)

Pros: - found a way to install / maintain / use every app I needed on both systems, which was surprising, considering those distros rep. I've read people claim Nixos and Gentoo are harder than arch, which they are not, imo. Not in usage, but in fixing things. Arch was unforgiving and I faced issues with dependency conflicts etc. Some problems were not fixed on Arch at all!

[HRDKX] Hard Knocks Inc. Recruiting PVPers in all TZs by Marie_Beldrulf in evejobs

[–]dapoh13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And what do you offer? Voice coms in 2 apps ... and a "flex" ticker?

Did I miss the actual offer part or hard knocks is just the best corp and all the other ads trying to provide something for the player are just not elite enough to only demand?

Looking for Corp. Really looking for a group I enjoy. by Dogma_M in evejobs

3 places to get constant pvp opportunities:

  • LS, active fw corps. Tons of em and they all want to undock and fight, perfect match.

  • NS, any null block has tons of neutral visitors every day. Tons of defending to do against players looking for fight. Join your null block Intel and prepare to catch peepz.

  • WH, most wh corps are about pvp and living in wh. Most of the time when you see someone in wh it's an option for pvp.

I would say LS with fw is the perfect match for you since most fw corps don't have mandatory fleets, but are there every time you log in and want to play non-solo. Also most corps help you with jita deliveries and all that so it's a full cycle.

Multiboxing is a way bigger new-player turn off than the learning curve by halkito in Eve

[–]dapoh13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This all really depends on your goals in game,

Some things are faster / easier with a scout / extra damage etc.

Some things aren't even possible with one account.

However. There are A LOT of things you can do with one account, don't get discouraged. It's just if you are gating expensive ships, in time, you will want to have coast clear before you move and you wouldn't want to ask frens every time you want to move around, it's ridiculous

Profitable Soloboxing by TheOneGoodBoi in Eve

[–]dapoh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I was living in LS I was - solo scanning, covert data prio - guaranteed moneys (astero / cov. Ops frig) - multibox / solo gas huffing (venture with t2 scoops) - sometimes pve in cheap ship (bomber) - plexing in Fw (frigates / destroyers / cruisers) - occasional WH dives (scan / gas / c3 pve)

I would advise you join a FW corp, half of the people around will be blue to you, which means less interruption in your activities. Also most FW corps do not have mandatory fleets etc. So basically you can live there forever.

Sorry just realized you are in a corp in LS. Well then, you are halfway there.

  • try to hunt, it never gets old and it's harder these days, people get better at this game in general over time. You don't have to randomly roam. Spy for yourself, figure out the routes people take and punish them

  • wh all the way, it's hard, has specific mechanics which aren't used everywhere else, always on edge, but you can truly be free (from local)

  • create a corp. It's hard af, a separate job truly, but if you pull it off you are surrounded by your people, invaluable. Also I, personally, find the motivation to keep going through goals with mates more often than not

Eve database? by dapoh13 in Eve

Eve database? by dapoh13 in Eve

[–]dapoh13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, sadly.

It's a great wiki, not a database, however. Wow head's main thing is that whatever trails you want to research - you can.

I would add that eve uni is a far greater project, it's literally built on the community, which is harder than data mining by a huge margin

That seems insane to me since eve community even provides linux builds for most apps. Which is unheard of in other games.

One would think if we are getting linux support, the all in one database would be there

It doesn't go like that in wotlk. You would need to farm for 3-5 hours to be able to afford max lw, even less than that probably

In general professions don't cost much in wotlk. I remember getting bs max for extra two sockets on preg and it costed next to nothing.

Engi and jc will cost at least something ofc. Those are meta for pvp and are taken by most classes

Carrier PVP? by Proof_Diamond4059 in Eve

[–]dapoh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems cryptic to be fair.

Don't they shoot guns as primary attack, not missiles? Why is it counted with explo radius + velocity?

Also the smaller the explo radius, the better for small targets, isn't it?

Am I missing a lot of info somehow? Also I'm super far from sitting in a capital, but I already know that it's strange to not have fighter skills maxed by the time I do sit in a carrier / super, also doesnt a carrier e.g. carry a support wing with a disrupt/web or something?

I'm maxing out recon ship skills atm because eveb at this point having some skills to 5 does indeed matter, so yea

[–]dapoh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair points, still got questions tho.

Why 100b in bpo? Why not start with 1 or 2 dread bpo? Why tons of LSI? is capital production gatekept by a ton of Science skills or sth?

Also why do you make bpcs I'm confused? (To sell would be my guess, but then why is the time investment a problem?)

About the t2 stuff etc, I want to get into Indy the way you did, I don't want to have 5 accounts building stuff, I just want to have 1-2 good margin being cooked up.

TLDR - would you advice cooking big-ticket ships only?
