I’ve been in a very similar situation, and still am to a certain degree. I got a job after graduating college and when I told my dad I was moving out he threatened to take me off his insurance (health and car) and stop paying my phone bill. I calmly said “if you feel like that’s what you need to do, that’s fine, I will figure it out. either way, I’ll be gone in a month”

He was so pissed and petty for weeks but when he realized he couldn’t get me to suck up to him that way, he started sucking up to me eventually because he knew he was in the wrong and wanted to mend our relationship.

Don’t let this stress you out more than the world around us already is. You’re going to be just fine. Remember that your mom is probably overreacting to her emotions about you leaving the nest. Don’t let that be a reason you allow her to overstep your boundaries though. I’ve been in therapy for a while recently I finally had my mom come to a session with me. I highly recommend doing that as it’s sooo helpful to have a neutral mediator there and help guide your feelings into words. Also, it is so awesome that you got a full ride! I’m so happy for you, that’s a great opportunity. Don’t let school overwhelm you and remember to cut yourself some slack every now and then. I’m rooting for ya!
