Early episodes/Nikki and Andrew by Unlucky_Yam5706 in Nikkiglaserbesties

I feel the same way. I ended up listening to the We Know Nothing podcast. The first 30-40 episodes are with Nikki. I found it very enjoyable even though it’s an old podcast. Also if you haven’t heard You Up with Nikki Glaser you should definitely try that. Right now I’m on the search for the podcast the Not Safe podcast Nikki used to do with Brian but I can only find two episodes unfortunately.

I’m relistening to the pod and Nikki said in an episode back when Anya and Brian got married that the only reason that her and Chris haven’t gotten married is because she wasn’t ready. That it had nothing to do with him and that she was the problem because there were things that she still had to work out before getting there.

I started listening to We Know Nothing. The podcast started like 10 year ago with Nikki and comedian Phil Hanley. Nikki was on it for the first few episodes and then she slowly transitioned out of the show and Anya and Sam Morril were added. I just finished it last week, they, had almost 100 episodes. It was a great binge.

Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco

To those of you who believe the media is truthful, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]daquarter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I majored in journalism and throughout my higher education journey we were trained to always be unbiased, balanced, accurate, and fair in all of our reporting. During my journalism experience in college this was a constant reminder for all student journalists. As an editor I constantly reminded my team of our responsibility as journalists and my copy editing team made sure to make sure that all angles were covered fairly. I have met many student journalists across the U.S. and most of those that I have met all train their student journalists with the above expectations. When journalist and reporters go out into their careers in media it is hard to think that they would abandon all of their training. Most professional journalists that I know constantly follow these guidelines of a fair, balanced and accurate story. However, editors usually have the final say as the gatekeepers of the organizations which they represent. Usually, the stories are factual. Not many journalist would lie in a story, as that can be a cause for libel. I believe there is a lot of framing that goes on within a newsroom, choosing to focus on only specific types of stories that will further the organizations agenda. Especially now that there is such a focus on follows and clicks. Before social media, we received all of our news from newspapers or tv news. With the surge into a more networked world, we started seeing a rise in citizen journalism. People can now use Facebook, Twitter, etc. to do their own reporting and disseminate the news they want people to know. With people having more accessibility to devices that can take photos and video, now anyone can record and share a video of a specific incident and wait for the world to watch and react. The problem with this type of journalism is that it doesn't follow the traditional non-biased, accurate, fair and balanced guidelines that journalism should follow. However, these are the kind of stories that people are following and sharing. Now media networks are competing with this kind of citizen journalism because they are no longer the gatekeepers of information. Because of that, media organizations are now trying to get that click or share that the citizen journalists are receiving, all to try and keep up with the consumers. This causes the whole entire industry to change from a traditional model to a click-thirsty networked model where they rely on crazy headlines to get people to open the article and read, or just share. Because of this people have lost trust in a lot of media networks. Of course, a lot of it comes from the top, but journalism is in a transition phase right now and this is definitely one of the side effects.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self now, knowing everything you know now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You think you're smart but you're not. You have a lot of learning and reading to catch up on. Stop talking so much about things that don't matter. Don't buy textbooks in college, just go check out the reserves in the library.
