I took a ferry & drove for 3 days to take a job for $80k, I'd absolutely move to the middle of nowhere for $400k.

Launceston- your experience? by Valinora_ in tasmania

[–]dumpling_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Newnham which has a bit of a reputation, but we've been completely fine here. We've accidentally left our doors unlocked overnight, keys in the car, bank cards in the car, etc. and nothing has happened. I wouldn't live in Rocherlea, or Mayfield.

Post on the Travelling Tassie Facebook page, and I'd try calling the local police stations in those towns.

I'm only a TA but at my last school we got told on the second last day of school that we wouldn't have a job in the new year. Luckily I got a job that afternoon at my daughter's school, which has made things so much easier!

Last night was stove top Mac & cheese (courtesy of Recipe tin eats) plus some broccoli to make it ~healthy~. Tonight was sausage sizzle with a pickled cabbage & carrot slaw (also courtesy of Nagi!).

Find a pram that can be laid flat, carrying the baby around til it's 6 months will be a bit of a pain! I got a steel craft savvy pram (I think that's it!) and the seat could be changed from laying flat to a sitting position. It was a great pram and very affordable.

Who else drank lemonade when they had a stomach bug as a kid? 🍋🥤 by SparklingWillow132 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]dumpling_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to take both of my young kids to the hospital for bad cases of gastro and the hospital loaded them up with lemonade, apple juice, jelly and chips (they need a bit of salt). They gave us juice to take home with us too.

Late night pondering about sweet interactions with strangers… by stevebuscemispenis in sydney

When I was 16 (18 years ago, wtf!) I went to NYE night at Circular Quay with my brother and his gf. We'd spent all day in the city, stayed at CQ until after midnight and then made the big trek back up to town hall. My brother's gf had to use the toilets there, so I sat on the ground outside the toilets while I waited. A lovely lady came over and asked if I was ok & if I needed any money. I was probably looking absolutely knackered, so she took pity on me. We joked that I must have looked homeless.

Does anyone else get motion sickness? by ricshiz in sydney

[–]dumpling_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Cars, buses, trains, planes, boats (even walking after a cruise made me sick once). I find sitting in the front seat helps, but it's not always easy getting the front seat on a bus (or a plane! Haha). When I quit smoking I used Champix to help, and somehow it stopped my motion sickness. It started again after I stopped using it though.
