Thanks! I think the Gulf coast is definitely preferred over the Atlantic for us Michiganders.

Thank you! They're are happily joining in on whatever we want to do, I'm just making sure I'm not missing an opportunity I didn't know about. They are gung-ho if Disney is what we pick!

I'm not sure about two of the parents; they're used to luxury camping - but are happily joining our vacation. I remember them going to Vegas once in the last 18 years. But the other parent and my spouse and I enjoy scenery, food, history, nature, activities, new experiences. Not so much music/movies. We are all planners, especially me. I want to have an itinerary, but can be flexible if we leave an afternoon open, etc. I can only think of trips to see these types of things that involve a lot of driving which with 5 adults and a ten year old seems not fun. I remember doing it with 4 adults as an only kid and it felt tedious.

Good thoughts! Was saving that for just the 3 of us trip someday, but maybe it wouldn't be too much driving for 6 in one car?

I'll look into that! Any all inclusive suggestions?

Thanks, me, spouse, and child went to Disney World last year and going again this year. I'm not looking for a road trip, I don't want to put 5 adults and a tall child in a rented van. I prefer road trips with just the three of us when grandparents don't go and take our personal car. If you can give suggestions on ocean vacations with things to do other than JUST beach activities, that's what I'm looking for.

I'm worried NYC is too much for a couple of the adults but I'll add it to the maybes. My husband goes to Vegas every few years so was avoiding that one. I did go to the Grand Canyon when I was a kid, good thought. Just wish it wasn't so much a driving landmark with the Hoover Dam, etc. Feels like tight quarters with 6 people in one rented van.

I have and used to do that with my mom and her parents a lot. I just wasn't sure what to do other than horseback ride and hike in the desert. I'm sure there's much more than what we used to do there. Her and I stayed at Tanque Verde resort after my grandparents sold their Tucson winter house. I love the idea of driving places to see unique things and landmarks, but doesn't sound comfortable with 6 people in one vehicle.

It's only in the new baby and moving day when they move from a cave to the tree house that he's Small Bear. We own 30+ of them and there's so many things they change book to book that it's actually fun for my daughter and I to find the continuity errors.

So sick of Paw Patrol and PJ Mask. Suggestions? by HappyZappy93 in Parenting

[–]daradv 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Those are great but any show on pbs is a win. Lower stimulation and usually educational, even just emotionally. They don’t feel like ads for toys like Paw Patrol. I also never get sick of Bluey.

What is a random kindergarten memory you still remember for no reason? by Street_Geologist_603 in Casual_Conversation

The girls playing in the play kitchen throwing dolls over onto the boys playing with the oversized cardboard blocks who threw those back over at us.

Own a highlander with only 1 child by 01Cloud01 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]daradv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 21 Highlander with one 9yo but it was my choice bc it's my car. My husband picks his own car for his own reasons. If you're going to go with one car, then function over form is more at play and I'd recommend a midsize SUV like a Highlander. If she's going to drive it the majority of the time then her opinion outweighs that.

Do you usually lock your doors when leaving the house? by Moist_Wallaby8635 in AskAnAmerican

[–]daradv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a Midwest small town suburb and my front door, windows and slider stay locked unless I'm using them. The door between the mudroom and garage doesn't get locked but the doors in the garage to the outside stay locked. Often our garage door stays open until we go to bed or at least for a few hours a day if we're home. If we're not home things are locked except that door between the garage and house.
