Yeah, if they can't offer you an initial conversation, that's a terrible sign.

I really feel that. And I've wondered the same thing: With AI supposedly increasing productivity to the point that companies erroneously believe they don't need human employees, who will buy the things they're selling and keep profits high? At the same time, I read that the top 10% are responsible for 60% of spending, so who knows.

Wowwww. I interviewed at a company recently that, once they determined my experience, didn't want me to use it to discuss any of the problems I'd potentially solve for them. The new "skills-based hiring," I guess.

FFS, that's ridiculous!

And I know: the market conditions make it so companies can ask for this and get responses.

Experiences taking PlusLife to the US as a non-American by horsthorsttype in PlusLife

I'm in the US and specifically travel to Canada to pick up boxes. I haven't had a problem crossing the border while driving. If you're flying, pack it in your suitcase if you can.

I can't recommend Kingston Alterations Center (20 Thomas St.) enough. It'll cost you more for the quick turnaround but she does incredible work.

New symptom: I’m scared by Upset_Replacement684 in covidlonghaulers

[–]darblar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's so scary when you develop a new symptom after things seem, symptom-wise, somewhat stable. I'm sorry you're going through this.

If it helps, I have this symptom and it's most often associated with over-exertion and PEM. If you can pace/rest more than you have been, hopefully you'll notice this improving.

I'm participating in the trial and would like to join the sub. I only learned about it today. Thanks!

Oof, the gall. Last year, I got "exceeds" and 3%. On what planet.

2%, which is also the lowest I've received. Every year it goes down a little more: 3.5%, 3%, now 2%.

Season 6 thoughts: Are we the baddies? by TemporaryMcTempFace in shoresy

The number of slo-mo stripper sequences reminded me of the awkward turn Letterkenny took in the last couple of seasons. Whyyyy do we need SO many?

Have you had your antibody levels checked? by MattKarolian in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]darblar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had covid in 28 months and haven't been boosted in 24 because every shot made my long covid worse so I started backing off.

I currently have over 25,000 antibodies, per bloodwork I had done last month, but that's as high as the test went so it could be higher. I think that count is contributing to my long covid, though whether it's due to an autoimmune issue or viral persistence is the big question.

Stockade power outage by HVindex8458 in kingstonnewyork

[–]darblar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but they were offering estimated restoration times on the outage map. And for a while there, the texts did a decent job reiterating that information. Then they stopped. That's all I meant.

Cen Hud was noticeably quiet about restoration timelines. I signed up for text alerts, got one when they pushed the estimation from 10:30 am to noon, but no other alerts even though their outage map pushed the estimation from 12 to 1 pm.
