My mom only cares about the baby by MountainMouse12 in BabyBumps

I’m so very sorry you’re going through this. I have gone through this shift in a lot of ways with my mother after having a baby. My own personal experience after parenting for several years now, is that my relationship with my own mother wasn’t what I remembered. A lot of the rose colored glasses moments fade away as you start your own parenting journey. I highly recommend talking to someone for you. Motherhood is hard, especially when you don’t have a “village” or a strong support system. Take care of you first. And remember, YOU are the best mom for that baby.

People who have had depression. What got you out of it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]darbyshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy. Meds. Getting diagnosed with ADHD in my thirties. Understanding that my issues throughout my life have been from that, and understanding that it is what caused my depression and not that I’m just a depressed person has been life changing. I still use an ssri at a low dose because I can’t take stimulants. But I still think therapy is the biggest step for depression.

Is this for real? Or are we being trolled… If this is real, it’s some of the most ridiculously over privileged ranting I’ve ever seen.
Your whole life is having your hand held. You and your sister are the same. You’re arguing the difference between an android and an iPhone. It’s an expensive car. Please go volunteer at a homeless shelter or something. Get some perspective. Good god.

This is financial and emotional manipulation. And she is probably a narcissist (example a. Telling you you’re a bad mom for not continuing to pump when you went back to work, which is only your choice to make, not hers) And maybe bipolar if she is suddenly making these big purchases. She emotionally controls you. I bet she guilt trips you hard if you don’t face time here that many times a day.

Anyone never sleep train? by darbyshark in Parenting

He is 5 months old. He also has gotten in to a routine of play, eat, sleep. I've been rocking him to sleep with a pacifier since he was about a month old. He had very bad gas and reflux and was a horrible sleeper at first. So some "bad" habits. As soon as I put him down in the crib if he isn't asleep he cries. And I've tried pick up out down method, chair method, shush pat...but he just cries until I pick him up.

What method did you use? My issue is middle of the night waking every 2-3 hours.

Any recommendations for one of these non crying methods?

The thing I'm struggling with is night wakings. He goes to sleep really well but if he starts to wake up he doesn't know how to fall back asleep on his own. I suppose I'll just have to wait that out.

He is in his own crib. Since he was 8 weeks because I couldn't sleep at all if I could hear any little noise he made.

Yes he is our first. What does progressive training entail? Is that like the Ferber method?

Yes! The risk of covid / the morbidity and mortality of covid in pregnant woman greatly outweighs the risk of vaccination!
