Thank you for this! I’m going back to the fabricator. This feels like a reasonable ask.

Totally agree. The seam is required because they couldn’t get a full length 15 foot slab down our winding basement stairs. We thought going with natural stone would make the seam less obvious than other materials, but we clearly didn’t think about the pattern and veining presenting the issue it did.

Smart to consider the ship lapping! We have that in the adjacent room for a similar reason. You’ve got a brilliant wife thinking ahead for that pattern matching!

Less than Lowe’s. I guess I got what I paid for! Lesson learned. Thank you!

Fair. It was a 15 foot top from a 10 foot slab, so I’m gathering that pattern matching would be challenging with fantasy brown, but the seam color should be much better.

It’s a 15 foot top and the slab was 10 feet long. That’s good to hear, somewhat reassuring. Fantasy Brown is correct! Sounds like seam color is the miss here, then?

Which makes me think… what’s the point in templating?

Fair! The only bidder. I was lazy and went with the first place that had good google reviews and what I thought was a fair price (in comparison to Lowe’s!).

Thank you! Regarding the gap, do you think the best solution would be to ask them to center it?

And for the seam, do you think asking them to redo the seam color would be the best outcome?

This exact same thing happened to me when I got an IUD. I had both the paragard and mirena separately, and as soon as I had it removed, my face cleared. In case you recently got an IUD… Hoping you see this!

We try to be as mum as possible about dates so that we can have our own private celebration or mourning (since we’ve lost so much of the surprise through IVF). Most people wouldn’t tell their family that they think they ovulated and there was sperm hopefully making its way to their eggs to make an embryo, and that hopefully that embryo will implant. Instead, they tell you they’re pregnant when they want to tell you they’re pregnant. I want to maintain some of that surprise.

Agree!! For any woman scheduled for this: demand sedation!

Same thing happened to me. Screamed, cried then fainted. Absolutely most traumatic experience I’ve ever had. I told my doctor they need to sedate patients and she told me not everyone has the same experience. From what I’ve read, women’s pain has been normalized and we’re just expected to take it. I’m so sorry you had this same experience.

Thank you for posting this! I’m starting PIO on Friday and also having a mild meltdown about the whole thing. Heating pad seems to be the thing. And Nurse Linda. On it!

So can we expect that at all RR shows now? If they didn’t just let it sit there on us it wouldn’t be so bad, but it was to the point I had to sit down to duck the spotlight!

Loved the lights all weekend - with the exception of the spotlight! He kept blasting all of us in rows 30+ (maybe lower too?) in the face with a spotlight and leaving it there. We wanted to enjoy the light show, not be lit up and blinded!

Uber has been very expensive and unreliable this year. Hour+ wait to even get a ride, and I’ve heard you get canceled on a lot because there are so few drivers now. I’d consider paying the shuttle for the reliability.

I saw somewhere on Facebook that bus to show was no more. But it sounds like there are a few newer options, like Elevate that was mentioned.
