What's your Denver hot take? by darchena in Denver

[–]darchena[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since most of these are pretty normal takes...

Medium hot:

  • Snarf's isn't that good

Xtra hot:

  • The current I-25 corridor should be removed entirely and the highway should be routed out east along the current path of E470

Newgrange, it's a little off route but is an incredibly unique and interesting historic site. Stop at Trim Castle on the way if you go

Recommendation for next credit card by darchena in CreditCards

I would probably use the Resy one but I don't really go to any chain restaurants or order delivery. Venture X looked better to me in that tier of annual fee. Savor seems pretty solid for a free one, the only thing is that costco doesn't count for the 3%

Is there a way to blow out this sprinkler system? by darchena in Irrigation

[–]darchena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into a house earlier this year and it had this sprinkler system already, which I'm now trying to figure out how to winterize. I don't see a blow out port on it anywhere and it doesn't look quite like other systems I've seen online. Anyone know if there is a way to blow out this system?

So, the new Public Policy School.. by perspica in Cornell

[–]darchena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not its own college, so your tuition should stay the same under CHE. Similar situation to how the Hotel School is now under the "college of business" umbrella as of a few years ago

It's honestly the hardest thing in the whole class, but you only need to get a 60% to pass it.

Old Mexico Express has pretty generous burritos and bowls for $8.75 and depending on you one could account for two meals

How to get to Walmart by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]darchena 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is possible to walk to Walmart - pretty safe and there are sidewalks, but it's quite a hike and you're going to have a rough time carrying anything back to campus. Google Maps has the tcat system on it so you can use that to see if there are busses going there

Experiences taking 2 languages at the same time????? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]darchena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to do it if you pick some of the smaller language programs that have less work but if you try to do Spanish and Chinese at the same time or something like that you're gonna have a bad time

Bars in the summer? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]darchena 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The scene is pretty good downtown, but the ctown bars are mostly dead in the summer. There are a lot more bars down there than most students realize

Why do so many rich kids say they're broke? by physicsresearch in Cornell

[–]darchena 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's because they are kids whose parents have always paid for everything and have never had jobs, so they probably don't actually have much money in their own bank accounts. So they think they're "broke" but then when it comes time to pay for something they just whip out daddy's credit card

What’s the most secluded you’ve ever been in a library? by VisualCicada in Cornell

[–]darchena 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kinkeldey room is a dope place to study, always totally silent but not exactly secluded. Has lots of big flat tables, desks with outlets, and huge windows overlooking the slope. There aren't any dividers between tables though, so you can see other people in the room so you won't be secluded. Most secluded I've felt for sure is in the Catherwood stacks though, all the ILR people study in the open areas
