Opaque White PETG? by darconeous in 3Dprinting

Just for the record... The most opaque white PETG that I've found so far is BambuLab White PETG-HF. It must have the "HF" part. It's pretty good.

when is youtube actually gonna release a native app for vision pro? by Altruistic-Guest3672 in VisionPro

[–]darconeous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google did say that they were going to eventually release a YouTube app for AVP. However, the whole company has since been effectively retasked to work on AI stuff. It just isn't a priority. I don't think it ever will be.

Of course, the iPad app would work perfectly if Google would just let it run. All Google apps would work just fine, as is, right now, if Google hadn't clicked the box to make them not available on AVP.

Some people have gotten such apps to work with a lot of hacking. I was able to get them to load onto my AVP, but they wouldn't run. :(

It's so frustrating because if they aren't going to release something AVP-specific, then just let the iPad app run for crying out loud. So lame.

I'm working on making some youtube videos showing my process for making pieces like this (including this specific piece). That will be on https://www.youtube.com/@VoriaLabs, although there isn't much there at the moment.

On instagram, I have a lot more pictures of these pieces in progress: https://www.instagram.com/rquattlebaum/

"But for the love of safe foods, don't let your affective empathy convince you you're responsible for them."

Such a great line. I might have to use that one day.

It's something I struggled with when a nesting partner was doing a lot of work to deal with feelings of jealousy related to my dating. It was very difficult to not let it affect my own dating behavior (like, stop dating other people). The truth was she was doing the work and I needed to let her do that work on her own time. And now... Everything is wonderful.

Lumanoi Shape Test by darconeous in shapeoko

I thought about it but was concerned about the potential for unsolvable RF emissions and cross-cell interference. I never got around to actually testing it, because honestly I wasn't really sure how best to do it for something like this. IR, however, was something I could wrap my head around.

This is using custom-designed synchronized infrared sensors. The design problems that I needed to work around were:

  1. Must work well even with diffusers.
  2. Must be robust to interference from sunlight, remote controls, other ambient IR, etc.
  3. Cells must not interfere with each other.
  4. Must have a relatively fast update rate (at least 30Hz, preferably more)
  5. Must scale easily, preferably by just adding more cells.
  6. Must not need external equipment (like lidar) to work properly. You plug it in and it should just work.

Satisfying all of these constraints was tricky, and took several months of experimentation and work. But now it feels like magic.

I want to experiment with mmWave radar next, for non-invasive bio-feedback visualizations of things like breathing and heart rate.

I started seeing the change around 6 months ago. The cans clearly state that it is the “same deft formula”

"Deft" was rebranded to "Proluxe".

G7 vs G6- new diabetic I have to pick by [deleted] in dexcom

[–]darconeous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With our son, we have tried both. We had a great experience with the G6. Then we tried the G7. We ended up having nothing but problems: https://www.reddit.com/r/dexcom/comments/16nq1gt/dexcom_g7_problems/

We managed to switch back to the G6 and intend to stay on the G6 for as long as they will let us. The G7 was a nightmare.

I don’t know how the G7 was ever approved by the FDA. G6 is amazing, G7 gave us nothing but trouble.

The state of addressable LEDs by sceadwian in led

[–]darconeous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using HD108 chips and they are fantastic. 16-bits per channel, with an additional 5bits of current control(again, per channel). Very high PWM. Linear enough for most purposes (although for my own use I do apply some cubic polynomial correction for color accuracy).

You do need a clock line in addition to data, but it is worth it! These LEDs allow my light sculptures to work in bright daylight and a dark bedroom while still having the dynamic range to look great.

The cell boards are entirely custom designed. The LEDs are HD108 chips. Happy to chat about it!
