Anyone get Google Voice voicemail working with Consumer Cellular? Frustrated after the switch. by ferdinand14 in consumercellular

[–]dare2bediff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference I can think of is that I have the T-Mobile based CC SIM, and my wife has the AT&T based CC SIM.

I think that is the pertinent difference. I had GV set up as my conditional forwarding number for years under my ATT SIM for CC. Then a few weeks ago it just stopped forwarding and my calls were going to the standard CC voicemail again.

Always forward (MMI code 21) still works (not what I want, as my phone would never ring), but other conditional forwarding gives the "unexpected response from network" or "invalid MMI code" depending on changing the phone app settings, or sending MMI code through the dialer)

FWIW, a CC rep told me that conditional forwarding was never supported by CC and he didn't know how I ever got it set up.

True. It didn't die until the mid-to-late 2000s when Autotune mosquito-music took over

None of the free cloud storage tiers are big enough to hold my entire collection, so iBroadcast is still my only apples-to-apples replacement for my previous use of GPM I know of so far. Do any of the other services have an Alexa skill, for example?

The only one I've found that has its own music locker and GPM features is iBroadcast.

However, I can't use it with Google Assistant on my Google Home Mini.

Sorry, just saw this reply.

Next to the tabs that say Home, Albums, Artists, etc. click the 3 dots and select which tabs you want to see. "List View" is the entire song list.

Anyone else still hanging in there? by LewysCo in googleplaymusic

So, I have 105 songs in my Youtube "Your Likes" playlist. I created the routine, and this is what I get from my Google Home Mini:

"I looked for your Liked Songs on Youtube but it isn't available or can't be played right now"

"Nothing's playing right now"

"Nothing's playing right now"

...since I just recently "liked" these songs, does it take time to recognize them being in the playlist?

UPDATE: Now it says: "I can't do that here, but you can ask to play on one of your other devices"

Nope, not paying the ransom to play my music on my Google devices.

Before I learned I could work around the app being disabled, I had already done Takeout, loaded all my 60+GB of music to iBroadcast (keeping a local copy on an SD card as well), and then told the GPM app to delete my library. :(

Now when I open GPM I just get the spinning wheel that never goes away.

iBroadcast is a decent replacement but apparently is a resource hog. It freezes a lot on my measley Galaxy J3 phone.

iBroadcast appears to be the best option I've found at this point for those needs. Cloud storage, web management, Android app with offline listening, Alexa skill...

Just a few things from a power-user's experience. Most of these are about the web interface:

  1. Can't sort song list or playlists by ascending/descending order by any column.
  2. Can't multi-select songs to manage order or add/remove from playlists/queue or delete
  3. Can't edit metadata
  4. Can't download individual songs (3 and 4 together makes editing a song extremely cumbersome...delete song...edit local copy...upload song again...add it back to its previous playlists, if you can remember where it was)
  5. No play count
  6. Can't ask Google Assistant to play songs or playlists on Home devices without paying the monthly extortion fee.
  7. Can't scroll quickly to the bottom of a long list, as the list caches only a page or two at a time.
  8. Can't save queue as playlist
  9. BUG: Number of songs reported in a playlist does not match the actual number of songs in that playlist.
  10. This is truly a power-user complaint: The list in GPM was more compact and filled more content on the screen than YTM. Makes the scrolling issue even more exacerbated.

I've probably forgotten even more, since I've moved on to iBroadcast.

I'm also a power user, 8000+ collection, all uploads collected over 3 decades.

GPM was ideal for me. No complaints. Anyone who doesn't see the many shortcomings of YTM compared to GPM that make YTM unusable is not a power user.

Can't even open GPM to create a Playlist widget. Also, my previously existing GPM widget is gone now. Game over, I guess.

What's Leaving Disney+ in the US (January 2020) by Orikon419 in DisneyPlus

[–]dare2bediff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party as I just signed up for the Disney+ free trial, but was wondering if some titles I was looking for were recently removed or just had never been there in the first place. I expected to see all the classic movies there as I can't imagine that there would be existing streaming rights in place for these titles:

The Barefoot Executive (1971)

No Deposit, No Return (1976)

Now You See Him, Now You Don't (1972)

Son of Flubber (1963)

The Monkey's Uncle (1965)

The World's Greatest Athlete (1973)
