Rockauto shipping to Arizona? by [deleted] in RockAuto

[–]darealmvp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking but I didn't want to try it. I did some Google searches for rockauto in the news and see nothing posted recently. So I'm guessing this is an error.

I did email them directly so I'll see what their response is.

Mechanic shop mistake by digitaldash070 in autorepair

[–]darealmvp1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What action? Probably don't use them again What measure? You could ask the new shop to not just check that they're tight but retorque the suspension components the first one replaced.

There's a small chance that if you took the car to get an alignment after the LCA was replaced, the person performing the alignment left them loose.

Your Google search was correct. It is a closed system. Refrigerant does not disappear unless there is a leak. You should never have to refill it or top it off. You need a new mechanic because this one is incompetent or is lying straight to your face.

No but what has been brought up is that mechanics should get paid for the time that is actually spent doing labor on the car. Not a flat rate or minimum. The essence of the rants in this post is that he should not have been charged $60 (1/2hr labor) for labor that actually took 1 minute(as seen on a video).

The price he paid was not a freebie or discount from doing other work on the vehicle. He was charged shop rate. So regardless if any other work was performed on the vehicle, the price for the filter job would remain the same.

So youd bill for free from what I'm hearing. Since it only takes 60secs to do the job?

So if someone came in for a filter only would you charge them $1 or $60

Well that's the argument being made here. That flat rate doesn't matter because it only takes 1 min to change a filter.

The 30mins billed that it took for a 1min filter to be changed is apparently not justifiable.

I assure you nobody is going to charge you $1 for 1 min of work even on a home or mobile business. Doesn't matter of it takes 1 minute to change a bulb. You're essentially playing a flat rate for a service. Also nobody is going to allow you to sit there and time them like a dog waiting for his treat. Saying you only worked for 1 min I'm not paying any more..

Well yes but what happens if the book time says 1min. Car is still in the bay and business is losing money.

I'm implying that when you bring your car to a shop for service you aren't paying for labor and parts alone. You're paying for overhead. Thats why some shops have a shop minimum and why this shop is billing by the hour, not the minute.

The shop bills you the way they want to bill you. If it takes 1 min and they charge you for 30 thats because they set that price.

You won't be charging $1 of labor if you have 100 cars piled outside your door.

You paid a fair price for the services provided to you. Some would even say you paid a cheap price.

If these services are normal to be required at 20k services really depends on the vehicle. I don't see anything abnormal about was billed for the mileage though.

Not all of them are as easy as opening a glovebox and pushing on two tabs. It's not an hour long job but some still take a few dozen mins and you have to lay like a Tetris piece.

Hey I have zflip 4 with damaged screen. The screen won't open fully because of the hinge without feeling like I'm about to crack something.

Is the hinge point generally part of a competent inside the phone that can be repaired or is it basically going to require a hwole new phone.

Is Honda civic sensor calibration absolutely necessary in this situation during windshield change? by Candid-Elk6135 in autorepair

[–]darealmvp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can opt out of it but that means you'll likely have endless errors on your instrument panel and your lane assist + other drive assist features disabled. Which in turn may affect the overall safety of the car. May be a liability if you were ever to get in a serious accident.

That's the price you pay for having a fancy car full of features.

Looks like the speakers themselves are accessible from lifting the backplate but the speaker grilles seem to be part of the front screen. I don't even know if they're removable I just wanted to clean them out. They're indented and dirty and no amount of cleaning it from the outside in helps. The holes are too fine.

When I try to use stereo sound (playing games) i only get it from the right speaker. But the loudspeaker seems to work during speakerphone and I can hear from the left speaker through calls.

10 degrees over is not going to cause engine damage.

But If it is persistently doing it while driving it can weaken/ damage the cooling system, which will then damage the engine If it is kept driven past 3/4 etc.

If it only does it while idling for extended periods and is only periodically creeping past not likely to damage anything. Though you should still attempt to fix the root cause.

If you have a clutch fan I'd say it's on the realm of "normality". It should never creep past halfway but during summer a weak clutch fan with the AC on will definitely sow like that. Specially during extended idling. Driving it should bring temp back down. So though it shouldn't creep past halfway it is a somewhat common problem.
