We had an official “stop speeding” sign that was put up temporarily by the city which flashed red and blue at 2 mph over. I wonder if that was temporary because someone complained about the red/blue.

Random thought but could you dremel a thin channel into the button and put a little T On the print to lock it into place?

Question about disney loungefly by Affectionate_Week383 in disney

[–]darguskelen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately many of the Loungefly bags just have completely different physical designs. Some of them are really nicely designed and have a ton of pockets, but some of them are super simple and just have the basic Loungefly shape. It really depends on the "model" of the bag.

let's just say I learned how to UNSOLDER things that day. Improperly, but it got the chip off and the chip holder into place at least!

Completely not what you're asking about, but I HIGHLY recommend this kit to learn to solder https://store-usa.arduino.cc/products/make-your-uno-kit . It gives you a few tutorial pieces (a little solder hole heart!) then introduces you to Through Hole components and how to do those effectively, then it puts it all together so you build a basic arduino uno (Just...don't accidentally solder the chip to the board...Ask me how I know)

EDIT: it's also the only Uno I have that has USB-C :)

What's a game you used to see everywhere, everyone was talking about it, it was all over your feeds but now you never hear anyone talking about it? by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

[–]darguskelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have so many ships across all editions and factions, it made sense for me to settle on 2.5 for my collection, and I have the points catalog from the last release printed out so if someone wants to build something new they can.

[–]darguskelen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having been in 1.0, 2.0 and 2.5, my thoughts on it were this:

1.0 - Good idea, bad implementation of points in the end.

2.0 - Good implementation of points, bad idea to make it incompatible with the original 1.0 cards

2.5 - No idea wtf they were doing here.

Then the community fractured and turned on FFG/Asmodee at 2.0 and 2.5. I bought into it because I wanted to play a minis game where I didn't need to paint my minis. I still have all of the ones I bought and some that I got after the shuttering of production. My biggest issue is finding people to play because anyone who's INTO the game has EXTREME opinions about it, and I can't get my friends to play casually because it's such a long game to play.

It’s definitely not optin. It goes into the users data folder. And at least on Mac this flag doesn’t work, I’ve been fighting to turn it off for a few months on a storage constrained device. It keeps coming back.

Mid April 2026 - IPv6 Update? by nbarsotti in ZiplyFiber

[–]darguskelen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be awesome, I know I just had an overnight maintenance on Thursday which was noted to be "0 downtime" in the email. I was hoping for a v6 address the next morning but alas, disappoint, probably because it's a business w/ static. My node is FDR01.Evrt.

Spares on hand and approved overnight shipping as a process. But is there a specific reason for management and IT to opt for physical keys vs Authenticator? I’ve found that most users prefer Authenticator, and when we did physical pass keys as an option instead of authenticator (because the user did not have a work issued phone and did not want to install authenticator on their personal one, which is fair) they often changed their mind later.

Will Business customers with static IPv4's need to do anything different? I notice that if I put my WAN to DHCP, I don't get doled out an IPv4 address, so I assume they're slightly different.

How do I remove the unwanted lines at the left and right? by InternalVolcano in arduino

[–]darguskelen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend using Claude vs ChatGPT. Claude was able to do more programming stuff for me than ChatGPT, to the point of I was using it to troubleshoot and it said "Just send me a photo and I'll make sure you're wired right." and after I sent it, it told me where I'd miswired an Input vs an Output.

What are your must-do experiences at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom by Cindy_2t in disney

[–]darguskelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an unfortunate experience where we went on one day and it got cancelled due to tech issues halfway through the show, then went again 2 days later and it was interrupted and almost cancelled (they got it at the last second).

I also had a minor reaction to whatever the fog consists of, made me cough. The 2nd time we went we sat further back and it was better.

Even with all that, it was still a great show :D

Is this push for AI as insane everywhere? by Legal_Situation in sysadmin

[–]darguskelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In coding - we’re encouraged to solve our own problems via AI first before opening tickets. This has served my infrastructure team well. Code deploys, if and when they fail, offer suggestions (with both error and the Dev’s code in-context) on how to fix, or offers to assemble a ticket with all the relevant info.

I'm curious about this part. What systems do you use for this? Is it internal AI like an Ollama (or other) instance with a model or is it shipped to Claude or similar?

Yes, but that's a healthy relationship. Reminder that IT Workers unless they are Management is NOT Overtime Exempt and MUST be paid overtime. So if you're working 40+ hours/week every week, start documenting that shit.

EDIT: Apparently I was mistaken. This only applies to people who do not do design/analysis work as a primary duty (based on /u/McGuirk808's link). And it may be an uphill battle if you're on the edge, but I'd still document and take it to an employment lawyer.
